Recent reply to my contact regarding electronic cigarettes included a reference
to the flawed FDA study and a link to a summary on your site. Full report link
did not work and I would encourage someone to review this link
http://www.casaa.org/files/Exponent Response-to-the-FDA-Summary.pdf which
explains problems with the study. Please look into the bad link and if possible
include the link to this analysis of the problems our community has with the
report. Thank you for your assistance in helping educate the public and
attempts to provide accurate information.

Can get to the PDF file, but havent ever been able to copy/paste out of a PDF file or change it to a text file. (Always assumed it was a copyright thing or limitation of free reader). Feel free to reply yourself if it would be easier than posting link or text in a post for me to copy and paste in a reply.

contactus@emailcenter.cancer.org

Maybe I'm looking at this thru rose colored glasses, but if they claim they are willing to read it, by god I'll find a file I can paste in an email. They apparently can only read it if I paste it in as text.

Figured it out if anyone else runs into something like this.

Save file (if it opens in browser) open file with PDF view instead of inside browser. Edit/select all/ copy/paste in email.

Hopefully they will read carefully and at least update their site with our side.

Well I didnt send them a copy of every single PDF, but I came pretty close. Not sure if the American Cancer Society is affiliated in any way with American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, but hopefully they will at least have an intelligent response to the information I've sent them.

Hey, thanks for sticking with it. I'd be interested in hearing their response. You might also want to send them this text from the Study to Determine Presence of TSNAs in njoy Vapor
http://www.casaa.org/files/Study_TSNAs_in_NJOY_Vapor.pdf

6. Summary and Conclusion
In summary, of the four TSNAs evaluated by ANALYZE, only NAT was detected at low levels in the aerosol samples from the NJOY electronic cigarettes. NAT was tested by Hoffman et al. (1984) and was shown to be non-toxic and noncarcinogenic in rats receiving a combined subcutaneous dose of up to 9 mmol/kg. Based on the above, there is no evidence that carcinogenic TSNAs are present in the aerosol from NJOY electronic cigarettes. Thus, it is my conclusion that the TSNAs do not pose a health risk to the users of the electronic cigarettes distributed by NJOY.

Ben received his bachelor degree in biology (chemistry minor) from Tulane University, and his master and doctoral degrees in pathology from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston.

If you want to include more text from the report you can, but it is 45 pages long. I would send them the extract above and suggest that they contact Dr. Thomas directly if they have any questions about the testing that was performed and the conclusions reached.

Meanswhile, I have sent some very specific questions about the nature and quantity of substances FDA found in its testing to the contact person listed on the FDA press release. This is a picture of me, waiting for her to provide answers: ;)

I basically threw the everything but the bath water at them
Amicus brief smokefree
CASAA position statement / legislative packet
Dec 9 study to determine presence of TSNA in NJOY
HSE literature review for Glycerol and Glycoia
Exponent Response to the FDA Summary
TSNA_chart 1
and a couple of others that I didnt save because they were word documents and copied without any fuss or muss.

Worried a little about copyright enfringement so they got the whole kit and cabudal. References, foot notes, you name it. They expressed an interest so I tried to keep it simple and not drown them in paper, so cherry picked a few of the best goodies and fired off a few dozen emails.

If cancer reduction is their game, they must see our point. Hopefully they are not too afraid of FDA rulings, etc to help us and decide to keep their head buried in the sand. I was just completely incensed by the snippet of the FDA 'psuedo study' with an invalid link to review the actual study and no clear peer review of the flaws in the FDA's release. At least they arent active plantiff's in any of the briefs I've seen though I could be wrong.

Who does the judge listen to if you've got
American Cancer Society
vs
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network
I'm thinking they should sue for trademark violations. Cause they certainly dont seem to be the same group.

How can you vape if you are holding your breath

If you cant get a response, look into my next possible avenue of attack.
One of my senators sent a response to my inquiry about the FDA. He is willing to help constituents with government agencies, but by law needs a couple of things first. A Freedom of Information release authorization http://cornyn.senate.gov/public/?a=Files.Serve&File_id=49fd6fe2-b62a-4fce-9021-ccd546a549b0
Will send it with a copy of legislator packet to him and my other senator too. You might be able to do something similar with senator/rep in your state to pry some answers out of the FDA.
