My new echo battery vented with flame.

Got a new echo kit. Charged up battery #1. Great. Put battery #2 on the charger, went to sleep. At 2am there's a pop, a hiss, and I come downstairs to a room fool of noxious smoke. A bit of sleepy investigation turned up battery #2 in a corner, scorch mark on the floor, and the plastic end cap melted off... It vented with flame. Better than exploding I guess.

Electronics can be contrary contraptons you just never know.... glad nothing came of it best to charge your spares when you're awake if you can. I can't but hubby and I sleep opposite hours so I watch his and he watches mine.

Hey thanks for sharing your story I was thinking of leaving my riva battery plugged in while I was at work "I was thinking what are the odds of something happening" then read your story thanks, you may have saved the life of my kitty cat So sorry that this happened to you.

thats why i only charge my batteries during the day via usb on the computer i'm using.. no way in hell am i taking the chance to charge them when i'm asleep.

I have started to only charge my batteries inside a metal pan. And only during the day when I'm home.

This thread confirms that charging at night while asleep might not be such a great idea.

I know I sound like a broken record guys, but please never ever ever leave lithium cells charging unattended, especially at night...
