Kanger ProTank 3 replacement atomizers

I purchased a kanger protank 3 back in December and have recently picked up the Kanger Aero tank. Apparently the atomizers in the protank 3 and Aero tank are supposed to be compatible. What is a bit confusing is the protank 3 came with heads that do not have the long post and the Aero tank atomizers have the post attached to the atomizer making it look more like a traditional protank atomizer. Also, a simple google search on protank 3 atomizers you will have the same results, 2 different looking heads, one with the post and one without the post. So what's the deal with this? Are they really compatible? Why do some have a post and some don't?
