I genuinely would like peoples opinion about sweeteners in eliquid...just found out my fav has Splenda in it :(

I really would like to here peoples opinion about sucralose in ejuice. I am REALLY bummed to find out that my absolute favorite liquid is full of Spenda/sucralose. What I am wondering is if anyone knows about any kind of real data regarding this substance in vapor???? I am assuming that if something dissolves freely then it vaporizes...but I honestly don't know. Are the molecules actually absorbed by your lungs? Does the sucralose end up places it would not if it was eaten? I wont eat this stuff so needless to say I'm not happy about vaping it....so I am open to hearing what any and everyone thinks....I'm not looking for any kind of debate here...just information. Thanks!!!!


oh..for ethical reasons I will not post the name of the liquid..but just in case you have looked at my recent photos...it is NOT AIV.

I don't know enough to have a real opinion.

Artificial sweeteners have been added to many flavors for about as long as there have been flavors...so my
guess is that there are no immediate negative consequences, and there are probably worse things to add. Regular sugars would probably trash your atty in a heartbeat.

so.....maybe this would explain why we literally get "hooked" on certain eliquids? I found it very odd that when I first tried this juice I absolutely hated it...in fact I tried to give it to a friend and he told me....keep it....just keep using it and by the end of the week you wont be able to live without it....and he was right.

I guess my big concern is that if a substance is not metabolized by the body and when eaten it is largely excreted in the urine....wear does it GO after it enters your lungs?

I don't know any real data on the sweeteners, but I can say there is a large number of vendors that openly list their ingredients and don't use sweeteners, the only sweetness is in the naturally extracted flavors. I look for this because I get a weird after taste from flavors where sweetener is added (the same after taste as diet sodas or candy) so I can usually tell right away if they've been added. If you're worried about it, research the juices you normally buy or a new vendor before buying

LK, call me oppositional, but i tend to distrust reports that attempt to make nutritionally required things out to be an addiction.

The only fuel the brain can use is glucose, so yeah, sugar has to be reinforcing, and sugar intake of some sort is required or the brain can't function. (though we can get sugars from carbohydrate breakdown, and the glucose doesn't have t come from refined sugars). Being careful of the type of sugar we ingest makes sense.

Questioning what happens when we get the sweet flavor without the calorie input (either by using sugar substitutes or vaping sweet flavors) also makes sense. If your body is wired to think that sweet flavor means that high density calorie input will follow, and no calories come in, it could potentially affect appetite.

It seems that sweet flavors trigger hunger for some people, for others sweet flavors reduce the cravings for actual sweets. It probably depends on a whole bunch of stuff....hunger, nutritional status, individual wiring etc.

thanks for both those replies. What is really frustrating to me is that the more expensive the liquid the more secretive they are about the ingredients....there is one famous juice company who is quite active on ECF who simply refuses to answer my question about whether they use sweetener or not. And I have had high end stores tell me flat out no...we wont tell you.

So I did some much deeper research in sucralose. Previously I will admit that I had only done minimal research and had stopped when I found what I wanted to hear. :) Which turns out that was mostly BS......at the time. At the time no real scientific evidence was available that showed sucralose had any damaging effects. Most of the reports were the typical health nutty hysteria. However....NOW that is changing....fro exactly the reasons you stated CES.....it's the issue of triggering a metabolic response to the presence of glucose when in fact none is there. So here is how I decided to handle the problem.....

After freaking out and giving away all my favorite liquid and then spending weeks craving it.....I had a bright idea!!! Why not just double the nicotine content? That way I won't vape so much ....HAHAHAHAHAHA....and no...it didn't work...LOL But damn...it sure does taste good. So in the end I think I have decided that it's like anything else.....moderation.....there is one particular liquid I adore that I know has sucralose in it. So I will continue to buy it but only use it as a treat instead of a daily vape.

LARGE amounts of sucralose may be problematic, but in vaping, you're talking a VERY small amount. If that much had detrimental effects, someone drinking a 2liter of diet coke would have severe symptoms. Craving? well, nicotine itself is incredibly addictive, as is sweet or any good flavor.

As for where it goes, out the system with everything else filtered out of your blood.

meh...I'm not so sure about that. They really don't know. I doubt that inhaling sucralose was ever something anyone would dream of studying. Not in a vaporized state anyway. It might not go anywhere at all....I could build up in your lungs....I have no idea how big or small the molecules are or rather their is any mechanism inside the lungs to break it down...I dont think digestion is something the lungs do. They filter yes...but they don't digest. Either way...I'm buying some more. :)
