Hearing to be held in House conference room 329.

This bill is sponsored by drug industry funded CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA (and probably the Hawaii Health Dept) that would define e-cigs as "electronic smoking devices" and ban their use everywhere smoking is banned.

If you know vapers or vendors in Hawaii, please let them know about this immediately (as lots of ANTZ will be there).

Hawaii is under a major attack. Help is needed from all vapers and harm reduction advocates to stop these counterproductive attacks on public health and the freedom of adult consumers.

This from CASAA site:

URGENT!

If enacted, SB 2572 would:
Place an undetermined tax on all electronic cigarette devices, cartomizers, tanks, batteries, liquids, etc. that could be as high at 85% of wholesale.

All of the bills (in Hawaii and other states) that refer to e-cigs as "electronic smoking devices" are sponsored by Big Pharma funded CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA (and the Hawaii Health Dept, which partners with all of those groups via its Tobacco Free Hawaii coalition).

While many e-cig bills have been introduced in HI, those are the bills that CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA and the Hawaii Health Dept is and will be aggressively lobbying the legislature to enact.

I hope some HI vapers and vendors are attending today's hearing on HB 2321, as all of the ANTZ will be there lying about e-cigs.

On Wednesday, the HI House Health Committee voted 8-0 to recommend passage of the ANTZ bill (HB 2321) to ban e-cig use in all workplaces and public places, and to legally define smokefree e-cigs as "electronic smoking devices"

The submitted testimony on HB 2321 is at
http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/Session2014/Testimony/HB2321_TESTIMONY_HLT_02-05-14_.PDF

The HI House Health Cmte's report on HB 2321 is at
HSCR230-14

HB 2321 was amended by the House Health Cmte (but I couldn't find any changes in a cursory comparison)
HB2321 HD1.DOC

HB 2321 repeats FDA's 2009 false and misleading claims about its e-cig lab report, and even includes a weblink for it.

If the bill is enacted, every employer and every public place management in Hawaii will be required to post a sign at their building entrances stating:
"Smoking Prohibited by Law" Including E-cigarettes And All Other Electronic Smoking Devices"
or post a sign showing
"the international "No Smoking" symbol, consisting of a pictorial representation of a burning cigarette and a symbol of an electronic smoking device enclosed in a red circle with a red bar across it"

So HB 2321 would require every employer and public place management in HI to falsely claim that vaping is "smoking", and to post signs that specifically ban vaping.
