Let's see... you can sell tobacco but not e-cigs???

Alhambra City Council will hold Monday a public hearing on ordinances that would stop the city from issuing permits to new electronic cigarette retailers and tattoo parlors until Oct. 9, 2014. If passed by at least four council members, the ordinances will go into effect immediately and allow the Alhambra Development Services Department to complete studies on the effects of e-cigarettes and tattoo parlors, according to the council meeting agenda.

Council members banned e-cigarettes in public spaces and work spaces in Alhambra on Oct. 14, but can reverse their decision if studies from the FDA show that e-cigarettes are not harmful to the public, according to Mayor Steven Placido. However, the ordinance stopping the issuance of permits to new retailers failed to receive the unanimous vote it needed to pass during the Oct. 14 City Council meeting.

Councilman Gary Yamauchi abstained from voting on the ordinance during its first reading, citing a lack of information about the affects of e-cigarettes. “I was under the impression that is why these e-cigarettes came out, so they would eliminate second-hand smoke," Yamauchi said. "It was because of that confusion that I voted the way I did and I just need more information."

It would seem that the ANTZ are now trying to equate ecigs with tattoos in the public mind? What next...?!

Any thing that bothers their vision, both of these are things that they don't want to see that have no possible harm to others, (any ANTZ reading this please see the Drexel study) it's nothing more than another power play by those who think they can run everyone else's life.

It's a moral crusade. Nothing more than a bunch of people in an echo chamber reinforcing each others prejudices and deciding to 'do something' Makes them feel all smug and self righteous.
Make no mistake what they object to is that it looks like smoking, nothing more than that, all the rest suspicion, conjecture and concern is born of social conditioning designed to create a negative response to anything looking like smoke. It worked so well that it will backfire and leave them looking stupid or worse failing in their goal - to reduce the harm of smoking.
