Only ruled unconstitutional I'm afraid. But there was also, unfortunately, a temporary stay on the order. So no new marriages will be performed yet. Hopefully the stay will be removed before the appeal. I would hate to see the stay being enforced through the entire appeal process. That could last years.

It's a sound decision and the opinion is very well written, but that won't necessarily decide the issue on appeal. (could be pretty persuasive though) I still see a lot of uncertainty in the appeal, but hopefully due process and equal protection will carry the day. I just hate that there are so many variables.

Either way it was a momentous victory for equal rights. Congrats California and thank you to Chief Judge Walker for upholding the rights of all while invalidating the inequality imposed by a majority.
