Hello, I have been looking for a shorter 18350 tube for my E-vic... but EVERY place I google is out of it.. except for a Canadian store that doesn't have the option to ship to the US..... Why are they all out? Chinese new year issues still or something? I don't get it.

On to my questions.. mainly battery questions..:

1) So I have been reading that it is always best to buy protected batteries for your mods.. but the Evic come with unprotected batteries.. and it is my understanding that it doesn't really matter if you have a mod that has protection built in as well as your charger.
- is this correct?

2) I ordered a different 18650 tube for my Evic... and I would like to get the joyetech ego-t 2 control head for a 18650 tube for it.
-Does this tube with that controller head need a protected battery then?
-can anyone recommend a protected 18650 battery to me?

3) I also want to get the 18350 tube and interchange all of the tubes and batteries.
-Do I need a protected 18350 battery?
-Where can I find a 18350 tube?
-Any recommendations on the battery?

*)
-Would any place have all of these items? Closest I have found is gotvapes.. but they are out of the tubes.
-Is an IMR battery the same protection as a protected battery
-Do button top and flat top matter much? Or is it a dimensions issue with your mod?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated :)

i will try to answer these to the best of my ability:

1) It doesn't matter if you have a protected battery or not with the Evic, it has a built in protection mode.
Only time protected batteries are essential are when you are using mechanical mods, if a short occurs, you can damage the cells inside the battery leading to failure.

2) if that control head does not have a built in protection mode when a short occurs, then i would recommend a protected battery.
this link seems to have some protected AW IMR 18650 batteries in stock here: AW IMR 18650 Protected 1600mAh Battery

3) is you use a head that does not have a built in protection mode, yes you need a protected battery.
it seems the 18350 tubes are just too popular at the moment on the e-Vic so finding one is going to be difficult...

*) They have regular IMR batteries and protected batteries, protected batteries are about $5-$6 more expensive.
the e-Vic only uses flat top batteries in it's 18650 mode, i'm not too sure in other size battery tubes.
If you look at the e-Vic kit, it only comes with flat top batteries, if you use button top batteries, you may be putting too much pressure on the top pin and may damage it over time.

hope this helped a little :)

^Thanks. I was curious on some of his questions myself :)

I am on the same mission basically. And yes, everyone seems to be sold out of the short tube. I’ve been to so many sites looking that I can’t recall where I read it, but a bit of info I picked up said to only use Efest batteries in 18350 mode with the eVic.

I believe you can use the AW 18350s too.. I think they are the same dimensions... but the efest have a higher MaH
