Drill bit for air holes

I am trying to widen the air holes in a AGA-TD. 304 Stainless Steel. I know cobalt tips are the best but the smallest I can find is 1/16". Too big. I'd rather get metric because I wouldn't mind getting 1.2mm and 1.3mm. Never mind finding this size in cobalt, I checked on-line at CT (Canadian Tire in Canada)and Lowes and can't find any metric drill bits. I'm in bloody Canada here and can't find metric drill bits. I would even settle for 3/64" but can't find them. I know I can get them online but was hoping to be able to hit a B&M on the way home.


Anybody have any ideas? Maybe something other than cobalt?

Found. Still can't find metric but found 3/64" at Home Hardware.

I'm in the UK and drill mine using 1.3mm titanium tipped, on a cheapo dremel look-a-like, works a treat.

that was my second choice. But the real issue is finding any in metric. I find it incredulous that none of our hardware stores carry them.

Most hardware shops over here don't sell them either, they're too small, you need a hobby shop, like Maplins or Radio Shack

Dont know if this will be exactly what you are looking for but it may help others looking for small drill bits, awhile back I was looking for, I think it was 3/64 and couldnt find one but what I did find was one that was within a couple of thousandths of being 3/64, it is a wire guage drill bit #56.

Jeweler's bits come in a variety of sizes. I picked up a cheap set from Sears, but good ones can be had at riogrande.com

You might look into numbered bits instead of metric. The #80 is .0135

There are many, many VERY small drill sizes available. http://www.carbidedepot.com/formulas-drillsize.htm

In a normal "complete" drill set with numbered and letter drill sizes, the smallest size is a #60 which is .040" or 1.016mm- -I can't imagine needing a smaller air hole than that. Hope this helps.
