There is no industry standard for "gunked up". While there may be no visible buildup of juice on the coil, it can just get oxidized and degrade in performance. Or, the wicks can get blocked, again without an appreciable amount of crud visible.

Consider yourself very lucky to have gone a month without experiencing performance issues. Per erikbal above, many things such as juice recipe affect this.

I have no idea. Different types of juice can have a big difference in how they affect the coils. Darker thicker juices tend to gunk them up more than lighter and thinner one. Did you do a dry burn on it anyways?

i did do a dry burn, but i had to throw the coil head away because i dropped a few of the flavor whicks and i couldn't find them
