Coils and warm up time?

I am brand new to making and using an RTA. I have been using cartomizer tanks until a week ago.

I have been comparing an Ikenvape cartomizer to the coils I have been building side by side. I like the RTA better but I have noticed something.

There is a delay until the crackling sound and vapor is produced in the RBT, the carto in the tanks crackles instantly and vapor is there instantly.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can change to get the vapor faster and not have to hold the button for a second before anything happens?

I just not checked. The Ikenvape carto is 2.9, the coil I made is 2. My legs are a tiny bit long on this one but I don't know if that affects anything.

Are both atty coiled with the same wire? Thinner wire is faster
Are they wicked the same?
Do they have the same air volume? Not flow but volume.

if the inside diameter of the coils are different that will make a huge difference on the heat up
