I am about to try some cartomizers for several reasons; I have been told they give a more analog-like experience, I am tired of cartridges leaking, and they come in a bunch of cool colors :)

I have seen adapters so that they will fit other e-cig batteries. I like my RN4072 batts - they last a good long time between chargings. I am assuming that an 801->Kr8 adapter will work because 801s and RN4072s are compatable. Is this correct? Also - is the diameter of a cartomizer the same as the diameter of a penstyle battery? Having a skinny carto and a fat battery or vice versa will send me into OCD fits.

Would I be better off buying a complete KR8 kit? What is the length of a regular, a shorty and an extra long battery? How long does each last between charges?

I have also seen 510 cartomizers. Is there a difference between a KR8 batt and cartomizer, performance-wise, and a 510 batt and 510 carto?

Is there a difference between cartomizers from different vendors? V4L seems to be the big guy in the KR8 neighborhood and has "premium" cartomizers. How are these different from regular cartomizers? Can I buy different color cartomizers for different flavors - a multi pack or a-la-cart, or can I only get a pack of five of the same color?

I have used cartridges for months. I just wash them and restuff them with Fluval or blue foam occasionally. I toss them when they get teeth marks or don't fit snug in the atty anymore. RN4072 atomizers last a month or so and Blucig atties seem to last forever with the occasional PGA soak. (Unless you drop one and then step on it. They don't work well after they have been flattened) It seems cartomizers need replacing fairly often. Are they really worth the extra expense?

And finally, who are your preferred vendors?

Thanks so much for any help.

All up in your grill..

And the winner is: retro threaded 808 for e9 style cartos hands down. I'll give you three guesses who my favorite vendor is!

I can't answer all your questions but I'll try a few.
I have also seen 510 cartomizers. Is there a difference between a KR8 batt and cartomizer, performance-wise, and a 510 batt and 510 carto?

I think the only difference would be the voltage from the batts, KR808 being 3.7 at a full charge. From what I understand the 510 cartos hold about the same amount of liquid as the KR808; they didn't at first.

Would I be better off buying a complete KR8 kit? What is the length of a regular, a shorty and an extra long battery? How long does each last between charges?

I guess this depends on what batts you currently have. If you have a 510 batt you could try their cartos. If not maybe buying a kit would be a good choice. I've been seeing some great deals in the suppliers forum lately. Here's a picture of the different batt sizes from 'Birdy's' user guide:

Is there a difference between cartomizers from different vendors?

Yes, especially w/ the premiums. V4Life's premiums have a lower ohm rating which means they produce more vapor but run hotter. Vapornine's Turbo cartos have a higher ohm rating and run slightly cooler. I've been impressed w/ them so far. Even w/ the higher ohm rating they seem to produce more vapor and hold more liquid than a regular carto (they're slightly taller than a regular carto). They also have a one piece soft tip making top offs and refills much easier. Some regular cartos can be purchased w/ a soft tip as well.

Either way I recommend buying blanks and refilling. I've tried very few prefilled cartos but the ones I have tasted stale.

Can I buy different color cartomizers for different flavors

Some companies sell them separate others in a blister pack of 5. I think bluegrass vapor and midwest vapor sell different colors separate (off the top of my head).

It seems cartomizers need replacing fairly often. Are they really worth the extra expense?

This depends on how much you want to fuss. They're sold as disposable but one can clean them and reuse them to a point. Coming from a three piece unit I think they're the way to go, especially when out and about.

Hope this helps some!

Agreed.

However, I found that with cartos some flavors just don't taste right.

I liked "Hilton" a lot on a 510 or 901, but in a carto it tastes like cotton candy.

RY4 and Marb were fine though.

One thing you might consider are soft tip cartomizers. I picked up some for my 510 at vaporkings and they are supper easy to refill. They also seem to last a long time before the batting/filling material breaks down.

I bought some smokestk cartos for my RN4081 and after 2 refills they started to get this funky taste. Even after washing them out the taste remains bad. I think the filling material is turning to mush.

I have carto questions too.
I use a 901 @ 6V for the TH.
Can I use a carto?
Will it fit on my 901 connector without an adaptor?

I'm just SO sick of leaky 901 attys, such a mess. I have to set my box mod on a paper towel all the time or it makes a puddle. I have to walk that thin line between keeping it super-wet and not flooding it so I don't pop it with 6V.

I emailed a supplier yesterday on their contact form but they never answered.

TIA for any advice. ~ P
