Brand new coil tastes burnt?

I just got a brand new 1.5 ohm coil for my mini protank 3 and it tastes burnt how could this be? Are some coils bad when you open the package?

Make sure you always prime the coil by adding a few drops of juice on or in them before filling the tank. if you try to vape them dry they burn

Yes, unfortunately there are such a thing as duds. But on the bright side, I only had it happen once when I was using the ProTank.

Sometimes you have duds. Sometimes the coil just isn't getting enough juice/air creating a burnt hit. If it's the latter you need to troubleshoot.

I have wondered about this too - I always make sure to prime the coil by adding a bit of juice, then filling the tank and letting it sit a bit before using it. I've had a few coils that just don't seem to wick as well as they should - being so new to this, I have been tempted to blame it on myself (I must have done something wrong) but I am starting to believe that not all coils are created equally.

Priming is important. Going from low voltages/wattages when starting a new coil with different from previous one resistance is important. There are no pre-burnt coils, but you can burn your brand new coil with the very first draw if you use it in a wrong way.

Priming also means to initially burst fire it at 7 watts for a number of times along with slight vape pulls. If you hit a new coil and wick with 15 watts or more, even 12 watts off the get go you can ruin it as well.

Yeah, I prime my new coils up really good. Then let it sit for a few minutes. Then come back to it, pull some drags, then turn her up to where I like it.
