This is week 2 for me and I'm loving it both the vaping and the community. My question is that I travel for business and was wondering what the experience is in terms of getting through airport security. I'm on side with the 100 ml (Canada) maximum liquid containers but what about the rest of the kit i.e., battery etc.?

No vaping allowed on planes or in airports, you must carry batteries in your carry-on, you are not allowed to have them in your checked baggage. Liquids must be in baggies, this includes tanks and filled cartos/clearos. Other than that, just don't try to hide the mod, leave it in the open, best would be to just place it in the tray for them to see. They will not take it from you and won't stop you from clearing security.... I got through security last week with a big Lavatube, no questions asked.

No vaping allowed on planes or in airports.

All major U.S. airlines have banned vaping while in-flight. However, to my best knowledge, no individual airport has banned vaping indoors. Since they are private establishments, it's possible that they have their own rules and regulations regarding vaping. If so, I'm not aware of such rules and regulations, and chances are the rest of the traveling public isn't either. I haven't vaped in O'Hare yet, but if anyone here has had a problem vaping in any U.S. airport, please let us know.

Thanks. I'm careful with this because as a "Native American" and a Pipe Carrier there are always questions about my sacred pipe and the handling of it. It makes me nervous.
Projectguy-
In advance i will humbly ask you to please forgive my ignorance for asking this question.
I am curious to see a sacred pipe. Would it be possible for you to show a picture of it? If showing a picture is not respectful, I will understand.
Thank you for considering my request.

Well, I MAY be wrong about the "in the airport" statement. I didn't dare to try and vape there, I just assumed it would be frowned upon... LOL! But SW Airlines announces and has it in their seats that no smoking includes ecigs... and i know even the German Airline Lufthansa has banned ecigs in-flight... I will be making that trip in February.. Houston - Frankfurt..... Lavatory, here I come. 9 hours without my vape???? I don't think so! LOL!

I don't know how long analog smoking has been banned inside O'Hare. Probably at least 20 years. But I remember flying once with a smoker from Chicago to Washington-Baltimore. Since there are no designated indoor smoking areas in the airport, he had to go a total of almost 4.5 hours without a cigarette (almost 2 hours in the airport, 2 hours in-flight, 1/2 hour by the time he got off the plane and got his luggage). He had the patch, but as soon as he got outside, he lit up. Even back in April 1988 when Northwest Airlines banned smoking on all of their flights (regardless of length), they still made a few exceptions for really long flights, generally those greater than 8 hours. It's unfortunate that the airlines haven't informed the traveling public about vaping vs. smoking. Does anyone really think that 14 years after all U.S. flights went smoke-free that someone would be stupid (or bold) enough to light up during their flight? The whole "they may think it's tobacco burning" is such a flawed reason to ban vaping.

Not on planes, but airports are definitely fair game. I've vaped in at least half a dozen airport lounges, but always ask first and do try and be a bit stealth (no giant plumes saying look at me).

As for security, TSA agents have all been cool about it. It's against policy for batteries to go under the plane so take all your PVs+batts in carry-on (chargers and extra carts are fine in checked in baggage). I usually travel with ~6 bottles of juice (30ml or 60ml which are both under the 3 oz limit) in a ziplock plastic baggie and put it right in the scanner bin with the rest of my stuff like shampoo/shaving cream/etc.

Edit: and as someone else asked, with all due respect, I'd love to learn the background on the ceremonial pipe. Started Googling after reading your post and haven't found anything that's made me feel more knowledgable.

I am what Americans call a Native American or Indian. My Tribe is Huron Wendat our brothers are the Wyandot of Kansas. To be honest with you I'm not sure about a photo. I will check and get back to you. For me I will not be able to completely get away from tobacco because it is one of our sacred medicines and was given to us for prayer. 50% of aboriginal people smoke vaping will save lives. Lots of work to do. I'll get back to you

I travel a lot. This year already New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Tokyo and I have used my GGTS on all flights and in all airports and I even waltzed around shopping malls in Singapore and used it.

I find the flights to be the toughest but if your careful and smart you can go the whole flight. I make a mix that has less vape and more hit for the flights and make it strong so as I get a good nico fix.

I'd never ask if it was ok because to many people it just isn't ok. If I'm in a bar then I ask because I want to enjoy it. But I vape everywhere. My GGTS is cut down though. I have the center extension part taken out and just use a small battery so it's really small and can hide it in my fist.

Of course I'd love it to be ok with everyone but change or something different always causes a stink. I once asked a pilot whilst he was in a smoking room if it was ok and he smiled and said "no" then I said " but if I was to go under my blanket and exhale slowly you wouldn't know" then he said " well in that case and if no-one sees you it would be ok " basically he was admitting that the complaints come from confused people.

First I'm the volunteer President of the board of directors of a community health centre in Toronto Canada for Aboriginal people Home (yes I have a day job - I'm a project and infrastructure specialist). The most popular misconception about our pipes is that they are for making peace. In fact our pipes are for prayer. Creator gave us 4 sacred medicines: sage, sweetgrass, cedar and tobacco. The smoking of tobacco is for prayer. When we smoke our prayers are carried to Creator in the smoke of the tobacco. Pipes are given (at least mine was) as result of prayer and guidance from a traditional person / medicine person. Being a Pipe Carrier brings the responsibility of being available to other Aboriginal people who seek help or guidance on any range of issues. Most pipes are made from the stone taken from a quarry in, yes, Pipestone Minnesota, some can be very ornate and beautifully crafted or very plain and simple as is mine. Some are very old and have been passed down and are very important to our people and are very powerful. Pipes that are used in a spiritual fashion (I've seen pipes for sale on the net) are "activated" in ceremony. I hope that I've been able to properly respond to your question. Anything else please feel free to ask and will respond if I have the knowledge, if I don't I'll ask others.
I am Mêskwananihsi it is my spirit name it means Red Tail Hawk.
