901 battery charging issue.

I've done searches and can't find any info on this specific issue.

I bought a 901 starter kit that came with two auto batteries. (and a charger)

A few days later I bought several 901 MANUAL batteries (from a different vendor if it matters) And I can't fit them into the charger. The button on the side of the manuals prevents them from slotting into the charger.

I actually CAN get them in if I hold the button down and but it means that the battery is engaged the entire time is it "charging" (in other words the LED on the end is constantly lit up)

The walls of the charger slot hold the button down while it is in there.

Will they still charge if power is being consumed by the LED?
I'm worried it's gonna shorten battery life charging them this way.

Has anyone else used a 901 autobatt charger on manual batteries?
Do they charge? Any adverse effects? I'm worried to even try it on one battery in case I kill it. (I don't have a huge budget for these things) :D
