(CASAA Call on HI updated on SB 2495 - tax, online sales ban & indoor clean air act ext.) CASAA: Call to Action! Hawaii Bills that Would Tax E-Cigarettes, Ban Flavors, Internet Sales, Usage, & More
"This Call to Action has been updated to highlight the largest emerging threat in Hawaii: Senate Bill 2495 Substitute Draft 1 (SB 2495 SD 1), which would tax electronic cigarettes, ban usage where smoking is banned, ban online sales, and declare all electronic cigarette products to be "tobacco products." SB 2495 is currently before the Senate Ways & Means Committee, an extremely important committee that needs to hear from Hawaiian vapers."

(Times of London - as reported on an e-cig blog site, RE: EU reg.s) http://www.ecigadvanced
.com/blog/glaxosmithkline-warns-eu-lawmakers-that-e-cig-maybe-tobacco-gateway/

Leaked correspondence between GlaxoSmithKline and EU regulators indicates the Glaxo is making the gateway argument. So far we haven't seen any evidence that American BP is doing this. Article is junk-free, link to original Times article is there, but it's behind a paywall.

(Glasgow Scotland UK) http://www.scotsman
.com/news/health/glasgow-2014-e-cigarettes-banned-from-all-venues-1-3285053

Vaping to be banned in sports venues and in this summer's Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow (including outside vaping). Some junk. This was a decision by the organizers, not the health authorities.

(Some ind. UK web site) http://ufohunterorguk

This story is listed for humorous value only, it's entitled: "Dog dies after eating e-cigarette lighter fuel."

Not quite as much alarmist junk as I would've anticipated for a story about minors and flavored PVs. This story has already been picked up by local media (Milwaukee WI): http://metromilwaukee

(WSJ US Nat'l Business, Re: BAT's UK Vype ad campaign) http://blogs.wsj
.com/corporate-intelligence/2014/02/17/bat-tweaks-a-term-to-promote-e-cigarettes-on-tv/

BAT has had to change the slogan "pure satisfaction for smokers" to "pure satisfaction for vapers" to satisfy British authorities. Some junk. If you get the pay wall message, clear your cookies and close your browser. More coverage on the BAT ad campaign below.

(Harrisbug PA US local paper) http://www.pennlive
.com/midstate/index.ssf/2014/02/local_smokers_offer_thoughts_o.html

Another entry in the Patriot-News' series on vaping. This consists entirely of quotations from vapers on a variety of issues. Sadly, no vapers who have quit smoking are listed, they're all "dual use" vapers. The title also unhelpfully refers to "smokers." I sense that the titles are chosen by an anti-vaping ed., since they all seem to be a lot more anti-vaping than the content of the articles.

Junk-free story on vaping at UF. Amazingly the campuswide smoke-free policy hasn't yet been applied to vaping, see this junky article: http://www.centralfloridafuture
.com/news/e-cigarettes-questioned-on-smoke-free-campus-1.2851336#.UwIlvc6tYs8

Note: this 2010 article seems to be incorrect as regards vaping: http://www.alligator

(Manketo MN US local paper) http://www.mankatofreepress
.com/local/x1196439414/North-Mankato-to-consider-e-cig-ban

N. Manketo City Council public hearing on vaping=smoking indoor ban - Tues Feb 17 7p. This rural area of MN which is about 80 miles due SW of the Twin Cities has become a hotbed of activity: Manketo and Sleepy Eye have already done this, and New Ulm and N. Manketo appear to be next. No junk.

(Belleville IL US local paper) http://www.bnd
.com/2014/02/16/3063041/siue-bans-e-cigarettes-from-buildings.html

So. IL. U. Edwardsville treats vaping as smoking - indoor usage ban + 15 ft. from doorways. Some junk on minors.

More coverage on BAT's advertising campaign for Vype in the UK, all articles contain at least some junk, usually about minors and "re-normalizing" smoking:
