twisted wire properties

I assume twisted wire changes its properties including resistance!?
Wouldn't simply picking a thicker wire achieve the same results?
So apart from being able to straighten the wire by twisting are there other advantages?

Twisted wires will give you a different flavor than just using a thicker wire. I twist 2 stands of 28 gauge typically, and I like it more than using a single strand of 24, which is about what it's equal to. Large gauge wire to me just doesn't produce the flavor like a twisted smaller gauge wire does.

Twisting the wire provides more surface area without adding all the extra useless mass in the middle of the wire that you have to heat, but does not contribute to vapor production.

Oh. No, just doing that shouldn't change any properties in any meaningful way. That just straightens the wire.

Also if you are using nickle wire with a DNA40, twisting a single strand is supposed to work harden it a little bit and make it easier to work with, as it's pretty soft compared to kanthal causing it to deform easily.

A single strand of LIGHTLY twisted wire is exactly the same as the untwisted version, but perfectly straight. A heavily twisted strand is extremely brittle tho

I found that out recently. I twisted some 28 a little to much, and it turned into spring steel. I could wrap 12 tight wraps, and about 3-4 wraps would undo themselves.
