Greetings all.

So I received my batch of 4 sx-350 chips in the mail earlier in the week. I finally got a chance to unpack them tonight. BTW, the packaging was super duper secure. You only find this kind of packaging being jettisoned from speed boats off the Miami coast ;)

Anyhow, I followed the instructions provided (which was a bit cryptic) and also followed the link and watched the youtube video. I made 2 attempts, one on a Windows 8 system and the other on a Windows 7 system.

On the Windows 8 system, I had to download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64). After installing that, I was able to install the setup software that I downloaded from YiHi's website. The software detected the board, shows it to be connected, but would hang when I attempt the upgrade.

On the Windows 7 system, I can't get the setup software to detect the board, even though the device shows up in my device manager.

I sent an email to YiHi and awaiting a response. I wanted to bounce this off of the community to see if anyone had similar experiences that I had.

I'm hoping there's a simple and obvious answer to my troubles. I just want to get over this step so I can plug it into the mod to do some more testing.

Ok, a full night's rest, I found the problem.

When you first plug the board to your system, it attempts to install a device driver. Though you may get messages from your system stating that the drivers installed successfully and is ready for use, it may not be the case. One way to check is to open up Device Manager to see if there are any exclamation marks. In my case I found one with the YiHi device. When I tried to update the driver within the device manager, the system stated that the driver is not digitally signed.

Instead of outlining the steps to overcoming this, I will point to a youtube clip that explains the steps quite well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx7uJe6kqec

Once the drivers were properly installed the upgrade went smoothly.

G'luck and happy vaping all!

Dragomoon I pmed you before I saw this where you figured it out.
thats great.
win8 needs some files moved to the correct location. I have seen this explained somewhere I think it may be on the varitube.com website under sx-350 page.
there is a good step by step I just followed and it worked perfectly.
Let me find the link.

When windows complains that a driver is not signed cant you select to use it anyway? I think you can... its not uncommon.
Ah! Looks like they described one of the issues I had. They should also include in there something about the drivers not being digitally signed and how to get around that issue. Thanks for the response Doc!

Hey did you go here?

Authentic YiHi SX350 35W Chip!

There is a new install program for the 64bit OS. Maybe that is what you need?

Where do you see the 64bit installer/driver ? am I just being blind ?

The 64bit driver setup is within the SXi program itself. Open the SXi program, click connection icon and there will be a button that says install. That will poll the OS and bring up a dialog box for installing the Windows 7 or Windows 8 64bit driver.

Thanks i've just noticed that in the latest release, I am quite sure it wasn't in the previous download though. Or i'm just having a blonde moment. lol

I still can't get my Win7 64bit laptop to recognise the device. When plugging it in I get the error message saying it doesn't recognise it and then of course in the software no devices are shown if trying to install the driver.

Edit; removing battery first worked, I had read that with these later updates removing battery wasn't needed and thought that applied to connecting too.
