so I was just curious is the recurve mod actually unregulated device sense it has a chip to give it safety features as Short Circuit, Low Voltage, Overheating, 10s Auto Cutoff, Overcharge, Over Discharge, Reverse Polarity?? Or is it still considered unregulated device Because you cannot change the wattage? I am new to unregulated/mech mods and still learning my ohms law and battery safety before I buy one FYI.

So would the recurve be as safe as a regulated mod?
It should be similar in safety, but not quite the same as a regulated mod. An understanding of how to build safely on your atomizer is need, as well as an understanding of the batteries you are using.

You have to be more careful of the ohms your build comes out to than you would on a regulated mod, and make sure the battery you are using can handle the load you are putting on it.

Alright thanks for the info I’ll just stick to regulated mods till I have a better knowledge on building, ohms law and battery safety. I don’t wanna be another guy that makes vaping look bad due to me not knowing the safety protocols thanks so much for the info
A good way to practice ohms law and unregulated safety is to use a regulated mod that has a bypass mode. This will let you keep the safety of the regulated mod, but it will mimic the functions of the unregulated mod.

Oh alright yeah I’ll definitely try that out I’ll have to pick up another mod tho I don’t think my smok mag has the bypass function. Thanks a lot for all the info btw!

Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations for a Mechanical Mod

Understanding Ohm's Law can be intimidating to most folk. I wrote the above blog to help beginners use Ohm's Law without a full understanding of it. There are four concepts that you MUST understand though:

  1. Know the true amp limit of the battery you have. (Battery Mooch's List of Battery Tests)
  2. Know the amp draw of your coil.
We are able to calculate the "amp draw" of a coil by using a simple Ohm's Law calculator. Type in two known values, click on the calculate button, and the calculator will provide you with the two unknown values. Ohms Law Calculator

3. Never use a coil that will draw more current from the battery than it has to give.
4. Never use a battery that can not safely supply the amps required to fire a coil.

It's really that simple.
