Hi guys, I been vaping for like a year but I'm new in that forum, most of the time I vape cartos but last week I decide to get the vivi Nova with some extra heads, I rinse the wick before use, first day was okay but after that I notice some crunchy stuff coming out from my troat, the third day my teeth became very sensitive and my tongue was sore I feel like little splinters in it, since that I'm felling very sick, now I'm using the tube tank, and cartos and no problems, but I'm still felling a very bad sore troat and my tongue still hurts, I'm so worry about the side effects and long side effects, like cancer. I hope some one can help me, thanks

Haven't had those symptoms. Dry mouth can make your tongue and gums a little sore. Vaping absorbs moisture from your mucous membranes. Try drinking lots of water while vaping.

While I've thought about silica wicks and the possibility of short fiber migration, the wet wick should prevent that. I'd like to see some testing on the vapor from silica wick products just to see if fiber migration actually does occur.

Personally, I don't like using silica wicks either; I have felt the granules too. You can re-wick your Vivi Nova heads with something else like cotton or hemp. But, if you use cotton or hemp, find organic if you can and then boil them several times, changing the water in between boils of course, before using them.

There are a lot of videos out there about how to do the re-wicking. It's really easy.

To my knowledge there is no FIBERGLASS in a Vivi Nova. Im not a Doctor, so go see one if your sick. I've not read anywhere here or anywhere for that matter of such a thing as u state. Remember there is nic in the juice, if that's what your using. Hope your not a Troll, hmmm! Nobody knows the long term effects, Vapeing is 4000 times better than analogs.

I had some problems with the Kanger T3 and EVOD wicks breaking apart and I sucked down some wick into my mouth and lungs. I was rebuilding my own wicks and coils for a while until I converted to cartos full time. I do have to say that I didnt experience any bleeding from my mouth or throat though. You should probably consult a doctor to be safe IMHO.

You're absolutely right, it's not fiberglass. But, he's not the first person who has noticed granules in his fluid after a silicone wick has been used for awhile. No, no one has had any affects anywhere close to as bad as he described, but the fact still remains that they saw and felt the granules.

Assuming its a real post, one thing I've always noticed is it's always a newer member very few posts who brings these discussions into the forum, I'm hoping I wrong.

Sure, that's always a concern. Perhaps it is because I have seen and felt the granules myself, that I tend to believe it is an honest question.

What u experienced may have completely nothing to do with the device u used, sometimes food gets trapped for hours/days at a time regardless of brushing rinsing etc. u can always pay to have the particles analyzed at any lab if your uncertain, or go Carto/tank which still uses a form of silica inside the Carto. Just because my big toe now hurts, or I'm sneezing a wee bit more does not make it a Vape issue.

Now don't take me wrong if there is a concern, there would be hundreds of posts about it here or other places. So try not to worry and do not go back to what will kill you analogs.

I understand your concern, but I always rinse new devices with vodka. Never know how, long some device was sitting on a shelf, or fell on the floor a few times and got, some dirt on it, I'd also see your doctor about the crunchy stuff, nice day coughing that up.

Your probably just sensitive to it..I had it for a short time (not near to the extent you are describing) while I was using Vivis.. I don't think a silica wick is going to pose anymore long-term damage to you than those flavour you and I enjoy in our e-liquid..frankly, I believe that is where we are going to find vaping's real enemy if there is one..

Lot's of water helped me..much more than I wanted or was use to drinking.. may possibly help you

Hope you get to felling better :)

Ive felt the little particles snap and crackle off of the wick mid-vape, and some of them even made direct contact with my tongue. Never felt it as far back as the throat, so I just make sure to brush my tongue when I'm brushing my teeth. It is indeed a concern of mine though, which is why I've ordered organic 2mm hemp to re-wick with. Just waiting on the Kanthal in the mail and I'll be rebuilding these heads soon.

On a brighter note, there have been many threads scientifically depicting what happens when this form of silica is put under the heat that our devices are putting out. The particulates are not large enough to make it all the way to the lungs, hence people complaining of the throat and tongue. That is a bonus, because anything in the throat and mouth gets taken to the stomach over time, which we hope gets broken down enough to be of no significant harm (in comparison to tobacco chemicals like formaldehyde and arsenic). Still, I'd look into rewicking if I were you.

I don't appreciate your condescending tone. I don't have to take it to a lab to know the crystalline pieces in my juice came from the wick. There is a post on these forums where one guy showed these particles in his own. Perhaps you would benefit from finding that and also some of the many other posts on this very subject.

If you want to use silica wicks, knock your socks off. But, it isn't for me. And since I have experienced this stuff in my own mouth, I'm not about to brush off the concerns of the TS. There are all kinds of other options and those are what I have chosen.

Have a good day.

You may be overreacting just a bit, Jose. Brush your teeth. Rinse your mouth out. And either re-wick with organic cotton that you have boiled multiple times, or choose a different juice delivery vehicle altogether. There are a lot of options.

If you are really that concerned, go to a doctor and have him check your throat.
