Hello,

I'm smoke free since a little over one week. No analogs AT ALL since then, just the e-cig.
Everything was fine until last Friday, the coughing in the morning improved, I could breath better, I started to smell things I did not smell before....
Friday night I could not fall into sleep at all, I closed the eyes at 4.30am and woke up again at 7.00am. I felt like *****.
I noticed I feel weak throughout Saturday, I also had a constant itch in my throat which made me coughing all day.
Last night was a pure nightmare. I fell asleep at around 2am, woke up at 5am...the bed was soaking wet, I was swetting everywhere....It was like someone dumped 2 Gallons of water into my bed. I could not fall into sleep anymore....today I feel like a walking ghost....every joint, bone, muscle hurts, my head is about to explode from constant coughing, I'm dizzy, can't think straight, nose is blocked....What's wrong with me? Anyone experienced the same thing?

I'm naturally very healthy, I do ton's of sport, I eat very healthy....I never have had a flu or sinuses or something like that...So this experience is new to me and honestly a little scary.

I noticed I vape alot, I use to smoke appx. one pack Marlboro light per day, now I'm constantly vaping (6mg - 12mg juice).
Could it be that I got too much nicotine the last days? However, I never felt a nic. buzz.
Could it be that my body misses the 4000+ chemicals found in a analig cigarette?

What do you think?

Thanks

Alex

This could very well be nicotine withdrawal. I was a pack-a-day smoker and I found similar issues when I was vaping on 18mg. I had constant anxiety and still found myself sneaking out to get an analog about 6 times a day. I bumped up to 26mg and those issues went away.

The itch in the throat could be a mild allergy to the juice you're using. Some people are allergic to PG, I have an allergy to VG (it causes that itchy throat).

Some people take longer to adjust themselves to absorbing Nic through the mouth entirely instead of the way it is with smokes
You just have to narrow down whats going to feel right for you & make you comfortable with what you are doing...You may want to keep with the 6mg nic only in the evening, & the higher during the daytime, It sounds like your body is detoxing from the harsh things in reg smokes too..Everyone is different & I wish you luck!!!! Are you drinking enough water?
For me I had to QUADROUPLE the amount of water I was drinking, I didn't find that out till after the first week.
I had skin pain all over my body, and thought I was getting the flu. I couldn't wear a shirt, because just that rubbing against my skin was torture, plus my nose was running, headaches, and on, and on......
It felt like the flu. Once I started with the water. All of it went away.
(except for the insomnia) I sleep for two hours, and wake up, I find that a bowl of cereal at midnight helps me fall right back asleep. This insomnia is with me taking a sleeping pill, and drinking some sleepy time tea (which helps with the soar throat too). I also have chronic pain, so I attribute some of the insomnia to that waking me up, that and if I take narcotics too close to bedtime, I can't sleep at all.
Try the wTer, and if it doesn't improve, go see your primary.
As with everything, YMMV, and I'm not a doctor, I'm just sharing what worked with me.
Good luck, and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

I went through very much the same thing. I felt tired for a couple of days and even slept for almost 16 straight hours after I'd been vaping for a few days. Your body is still going through some withdrawal and ridding itself of all the other chemicals found in cigarettes. You could also be experiencing some cold symptoms, since it is that time of the year. You definitely want to make sure you're drinking plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. That will help with itch in your throat and the stuffy nose.

You're using a relatively low strength of nicotine, and vaping a lot is normal when you first start. You could try bumping up the nic to 18mg and see if that helps ease some of the withdrawal. You can always back it down again once you get comfortable. Hell, I still nearly chain vape 18mg. Vaping rarely gives you the nic buzz you could get from cigarettes because the nicotine is absorbed more slowly.

As always, if your symptoms persist or you just want to put your mind at ease, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR! There's nothing wrong with getting a professional opinion and a clean bill of health!

I forgot, when I first got started, I was vaping at 16mg, and felt TERIBLE. I constantly felt all chemically, my lungs hurt with every puff on the PV, and I constantly was depressed.
I upped myself to 24mg, and all of that went away.
Well most of it, I'm getting some 36mg in the mail any minute now.........where is that damn postman!!!!

It almost sounds like you are getting too much nicotine at night. I never had any symptoms when I started vaping, but I do know that if I don't get enough sleep at night then the sleep that I DO get will be sweaty and I wake up feeling like crap.

I would probably try sticking with the 12mg or so during the day and try some 0mg during the evening hours of your day (like people switch to decaf at night, switch to 0mg) That way you may end up sleeping better and it will probably help with all your other symptoms.

Just brainstorming.. :)

That is what happened to me, started getting sick the day after I got my eGo-T, I was worried I was having and allergic reaction, but everyone around me also got sick, same symptoms.

It was a nasty one too, could not sleep, chest congestion, fever, just miserable, still getting over it myself.

Alex,

It sounds to me like you have the flu. Please don't give up on the Ecigs over this because you probably have a real illness or bug!

Re coughing... Are you vaping 100% PG juice? If so, let up until you get some nice 70pg/30vg juice. Nicotine is a skin irritant and 100% PG lets through the most irritation. You can get irritated tongue, throat or in extreme cases lungs. Try Backwoods Brew, FreedomSmokeUSA and others (FSUSA has selectable PG/VG on many juices and fixed 50/50 on some). The VG smooths out the irritation - you want a PG/VG balance that gives you enough TH without making your tongue, throat or lungs sore.

Re nicotine - if you are vaping a lot more than you smoked, try lower nicotine. Too much nicotine can cause headache, rapid heartbeat, etc.

Some people need to vape a lower level in the evening to sleep well.

I'll second trying the VG :)

It's not just quitting smoking it's quitting 4000 chemicals so some detox will happen!
I didn't sleep nearly as much as I did when I smoked the 1st 2 weeks! Also my dreams were very vivid...almost on a disturbing level! I talked with alot of folks that had the same thing! I actually miss those crazy dreams LOL
Also vaping dehydrates you! Drink lots and lots of water...it not only helps with the dehydration it helps carry all that gunk out of your body! Just like dieting lots and lots of water is a must!

Hello,

thanks to all the replies.
I guess I answer some of your questions.

I was vaping 100%PG from LF the first 5 days, after that I got my BWB order, I also bought some juice at the estand. This stuff is a 70/30 or 50/50 mix.
How long would it take to react allergic to PG or VG.
It seems like the likelihood of getting an allergic reaction is higher with PG vs. VG.
I vaped for 5 days PG, could that be the allergic reaction or would I have experienced it right away?

I drink alot of water, as said before I do ton's of sport so I usually drink at least 3-4 liter water per day. Do you think I should up this amount?

I'll try to reduce the nicotine at night to 6mg. or even 0mg, during the day I keep on vaping 12mg or even 16mg.

There are a lot of guys at work getting sick right now, I may just have cought on to it...
It's insane... I try to get rid of my last "not healthy" habit and my body is freaking out :) well, it is what it is....

Anyhow, I took off from work today at noon, went home, got a HOT bath and fell asleep.... that felt good.....feeling already better....

Thanks again to all of you

Dude, way way way to low on the nicotine for starting up. Try 24 or 32 mg/ml. You would have suffered a lot less.

Hang in there buddy, your body is going through detox. I also had a terrible case of insomnia, night sweats, and other things that made me think that my entire body was going to break down. As the others say, drink lots of water and hang in there as it will pass.

Sometimes I wonder just how many other things tobacco companies have added to cigarettes besides nicotine to make them so difficult to quit. But the good news is that you can make it as the vast majority of us here have (I celebrate 1 month analog free tomorrow) and not only will you feel better than you have in years but you can help others quit too with your own encouragement.

Keep us posted and good luck

Another reason for the aches could be that PG breaks down into lactic acid in your system. It will cause a lot of aches if you don't drink enough to flush it from your body. The nicotine is, also absorbed less quickly than with cigarettes so if you've ever tried the patch and took it off just before bed you may notice some similarities. i.e. the sweating, tossing and turning, as your body works through the nic stimulation.
