Guys,

Wondered if anyone has had any trouble updating the software on this. I only just received it, but the new software came out and I want to install it. The update button is just greyed out and I have tried connecting it with supplied cable and various different ones I have. Strange this is that the escribe software has no trouble connecting to it.
I have tried on my windows side of my mac and I have tried using the mac software to update and nothing. The update software just doesn't detect the device.

Any ideas or am I sending this one back?
I will try to go to my dads computer first.

thanks in advance.

"Have you tried turning it off... then turning it on again?"

Sorry... couldn't resist. :p

As the OP did, if possible test other DATA cables. They are cheap, and do crap out.

Batteries out, have the app running.
Connect the mod first, then connect to the computer.

And fingers crossed.
Folks have said it's one of the easiest, and most solid, updaters we use, so try, try again. :(

This is crazy but, both joyetech and wismec web sites have the new updates but only the one from wismec will work! (for me

I had problems loading the software and unzipping the updates on my Windows laptop so I used a Mac. Much easier IMO. Note: I tried 3 different cables before the updated would recognize a device. Many cheap cables likely won't work.

My black RX200 was at version 1.07 and after plugging it in, unplugging the RX200 then unplugging from the laptop, etc. the update software finally recognized my RX200. Update was loaded and I thought the RX200 bricked. After hitting the fire button a bunch of times as well as the up/down buttons, it came back to life and is working great. I checked and 3.0 is indeed loaded. It seems to be a great update. Very easy to get to where you want to go for folks doing different types of TC.

My green RX200 was a different story. It was ordered on release from Fasttech and was at v1.03. The updater found the device twice out of about 100 tries of plugging in, unplugging, relaunching the SW, etc. Hit "update" and nothing happened. The device just blacks out and the sw says "no hardware found" if I hit update again. Thought it was toast as it took a lot of button pushing to get it to lift up. Not 5 or 20 pushes either. Very strange. I gave up and the green RX200 stays at 1.03, I guess.

Not quite correct.
Each of the four updaters is mod specific, it checks the ID on the chip. VTC, Cuboid, Presa & RX.
Though the zip files do include .bins for the others.

You need the RX installer from Wismec.

Start the upgrade program, connect USB to RX and then update select the rx200.bin file click update again few seconds and it's done. Easiest upgrade I've done yet with an ecig all four of mine are now running ver 3 firmware and it's definitely worth it makes this mod just about perfect.

Worked for me, guys. I forgot, when I put the second one in service, to update the firmware. And I couldn't find the app on my machine any more either. So I re-downloaded the app (located here) and reinstalled. Good thing I did as it appears there's now a version 3.0; an advance on the 1.8 I was using. Atomizer off, batteries out, boot the app, plug in the machine. It finds it straight away (or did for me) and then click update and select the version you want. I just did both of mine to Version 3.0. This one is supposed to have SS316 support-- nice, since that's what I use-- and selectable TCR, but if it does I haven't figured out how to get to it. The only immediate change I have noticed is three clicks no longer cycles through the available TC wires + watts mode: it pops up a menu and you use the buttons to cycle through. Four clicks still brings up the watts setting. Both of mine are working.

Thanks for all the advice guys, but I have tried 3 different cables which all work fine with Escribe. I have tried disconnecting and connected so many times. It is getting boring!!! Only had the device 1 day! I need to try on another computer in case its my ports, but when I analyse the computer USB hub it clearly has Evolve DNA200 USB connected to it!

I don't know what else to do.

On a stretch here, but what Mac model and what USB port are you using?
