I am having issues with making solid connections in the wiring. One of the issues is having to run a wire from the negative side of the battery (which is always the furthest away from the atomizer) and also having problems with the soldering to the atomizer housing. The atomizer housings have busted in half from sanding and reusing so there isn't much to solder a wire to, only the treads part is left. I was wondering if is possible just to run a wire from the negative side of the battery to the mod housing itself using a drill and screw if you are using a metal or aluminum mod case? That way I don't have to worry about running a wire the length of the mod or worry about soldering it to the atomizer housing?

Well this is modding so you can do anything you want really. It is just a question if it will work and last. You dont really have to sand a connector to get the solder to stick. Sounds to me like your not getting the connector hot enough for the solder to stick. Because the outside of the connector has a lot more metal to it, it dissipates the heat from the iron. I turn the heat up on my iron when soldering the outer part of the battery side atomizer connector. You might need a better or hotter iron to get it to stick or holding the iron on the connector longer and letting it heat up might do the trick.
