I can't believe you're asking this question. I was logging on to ask the same question.

I've searched a little and the only thread (internet, not fiber) I could find was a few years old and didn't really provide any info. I was thinking the same thing as you. Wool is known for its wicking ability in clothing and is burn resistant. Seems like a winner (in theory, anyway). As far as being solid as opposed to hollow, that could mean that it gives up the juice (to the coil) even easier. That said, I've got a hunch that if wool was a good wicking material for vaping, there would be a sub-forum here dedicated to artisan vaping yarn.

No other way to know but to try a few variations (long staple vs short staple, fineness of fiber, batting vs yarn). I would just make sure that whatever you try is washed free of lanolin, is undyed, and free of any other additives or coatings like moth proofing.

And Stevegmu - thanks for the tip about alpaca. Do you use it regularly, or was just an experiment?
