just curious why they put a rubber piece inside the tip of the mini vivi nova. are all drip tips like this?
I think he is talking about the silicone tube that is inside the drip tip on the vivi Nova 2.0 as far as I know it is there to tighten the draw. I take them out for a airier draw.
The taste is probably due to the rubber grommet at the bottom of the head's center pin. It is fairly common for them to burn in stock form.

Leave it in and push it down with a Q-tip. Helps reduce juice getting into the center tube and directs air flow across the coil when you vape. I find pushing it down also improves flavor a bit. No upside to removing it!
