Which is better battery, 4.2v or 3.7v

I got my first dripper today and I'm using a friends mech mod until my box mod comes in. I've pre-ordered the new Cloupor T8 dual 18650 box mod. I'm planning on building dual coils that range from .4 down to .1 ohms. I know I need a pair of batteries that can handle at least 30 amps. My main question is if I should get 2 4.2v batteries or 3.7v? My understanding is that once the batteries drop below 3.6v, I'll experience a drop in performance, so doesn't it make sense to get 4.2v batteries?

I've been vaping clearomizers for over a year now, but I'm new to dripping and don't want to just jump in blindly and get a poor dripping experience, or worse, have a battery explode on me. Any advice here would be much appreciated.

I'd get 3.7v batteries if I were you LM.

What are these 4.2 V batteries you are talking about?

3.7 V batteries are 4.2 V when fully charges.

AFAIK, all 18650 batteries are rated 3.7 V and will have 4.2 V when they come off the charger.

I picked up 2 Sony VTC5's for my T8. which are 3.7 volt batts when fully charged weigh in at 4.25 volts.

Ah, that would explain why I'm having a hard time finding any 4.2v batteries except the crap brand ones like ultrafire. My friend seemed to be under the impression that there were 3.7V and 4.2v batteries. So any reliable brand ones like efest would be fine then?

Does the mAh effect anything other than total capacity for the battery?

Here's some Advice.

If you are going to Build Coils this Low, get yourself a Good Digital Multi-Meter to Measure Resistance.

Those el-Cheap-O brand 510 ohms testers can be Off. And when a Build is at .1 Ohms, being Off can be the Difference of a Battery Trying to Dump all the Amps at Once.

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna look into getting a high quality ohms meter. I'm reading through the links for battery info. If I'm understanding it right, the IMR/Hybrid batteries seem best and short of that a IMR high drain battery, right?

IMR (Li-Mn) and IMR/Hybrid batteries are BOTH safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries. They are both equal, one is not necessarily better than the other.

The Sony VTC5's became so popular because of their 2600 mah rating. Most of the other 30A batteries are 1600 or 2100 mah.
