Here is a cool little switch that I ordered. I also got some nice little magnets to compliment it here but there are plenty of places to get magnets.
If it is a short metal led switch you like I finally found one here, it looks really short and I have not ordered one yet.
but it is to hight...
This is the shortest one I have ever seen. Hope that helps Indie

sure but they are really big.

this is the one im going with 20W DC DC Step Down Converter Regulator Combine The Red LED Volt Meter | eBay wut do yous alls think of it
That is like the one I got. My problem with putting it in my box is threefold.
1. To mount it so the display is showing to the utside of the box it would cover those small blue input output connectors.
2. there is a button to switch between input volts and output volts. Small white one. So a hole in the box to let it show through so you can press it?
3. then the input side has a red LED that would shine so a hole in the box to see it too?
It is possible I just have not figured a good way to do it yet. If you come up with something feasible let me know how you mount it to use all of its functions.
Here is what I have started with it so you can see a bit better. Also I am fighting with it maybe being too big to work in my box.

It looks to me you need 3 holes. 1 for the lcd screen, 1 for the in/out button and 1 for the pot. Now for the in/out button you could eliminate a through hole in the box by making a switch from a nail turned upside down so the point end is sticking out of the box. (Just file the point down so you don't stab yourself when you push it, lol.) I don't think you need to see the little red led. could be wrong but I think that's just showing you there's constant input power (stays on till the batt's dead).

All in all a sweet little "brain" you got. Display and pot pre-assembled and screw post ins and outs. A perfect no solder required mod board.
Stick to 2.5 ohm or higher single coil atties and she'll rock.

Edit: I been checking on these converters and i see most of them say add a heat sink and you can push 3amp max without it frying. Not sure with yours specifically, but maybe a more experienced modder could tell you. But that would solve the "no lr" issue.

took at least two weeks to get it in the mail. so be patient. I would rather order items from USA.

Yah the red seems too stark and common, Blue is nice but i opted for this and like it. good luck JR

btw nice link on that switch from adafruit, just hope you got the momentary, not the on/off. Built in resistors takes out the guesswork and extra solder. I was acctually thinking the other day, if you got a pre-wired 510 connection, pre-wired batt box, that step-down regulator, and a switch with wire posts, absolutely no solder required. May lose a little power on the top end (soldering provides better continuity), but super easy build!
