Yep, coils with touching wraps are called contact coils. A micro coil is a contact coil with an ID <= 1.5mm, roughly 1/16.

Sent from Tapatalk, typos its fault.

This exactly. I cut back on micro and nano coils but run 2.5-3.0mm "macro coils" now. Just like a micro coil... it's a contact coil wound over a larger diameter. The (....ing stupid in my honest opinion) naming scheme, from smallest to largest, goes like...

Super Nano Coils --> Nano Coils --> Micro Coils --> Macro Coils

I refuse to call Super Nano's by their name... they'll always be Pico coils to me.

Coils should follow science and go...

Pico Coils --> Nano Coils --> Micro Coils --> Milli Coils --> Kilo Coils --> Mega Coils....... on and on....

I wind my coils on a 1.83mm rod that came in a set of five rods with the Gizmo Artistic Coil Winder. Technically, my 1.83mm coils are standard size, but they look micro to me. The 1.83mm rod is about the size of a #2 pencil lead.

Yeah screw all the nomenclature. Were talking about wrapping a wire lol... i love how crazy obsessed some get with the names and distinction.

"Yo chief... bro, yo bro... check my new quad, super micro nano, tripple parallel, monkey fist, wickless, tit'flicker coil!"

I just wrap varying gauges of wires around different diameters.... until i find builds that perform how i like in each device. I dont measure .... lol.

I wrap my coils using the ''little blue screwdriver'' that comes with Fasttech tanks. Its .080 in dia.
I was going to wrap one using the hair on my head for a super nano coil build but i need a microscope.

You can take this a little further and do a super nano "curly" coil!!

can some1 tell me what's the difference between a micro coil and reg ?

is it simply a sub ohm resistance coil or what?

A micro coil is distinguished by diameter of the coil and all the wraps touching... This thread will give you all the info you desire to know the difference in coils, whether they be nano, micro, standard, macro, or whatever.... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/coil-builds/416271-micro-coils-increase-vapor-flavor-th.html

Here is something to help you visually...
