I've seen several new vv and vw mods coming out lately that have a puff counter. Do you really need to know how many hits you take or how many you have left? Some even incorperate a lock-out feature that limits you to a certain amount. I'm sure you could just re-set it if you exceed your limit, but what's the point? Do people really care about the number of puffs? Just seems like a waste of programming. Why not add features like the Janty MiD, where you can control the voltage to a "T". If that thing was a full sized mod and not an ego-style I'd be all over it! Alas, the e-cig manufacturers have yet to contact me to pick my brain and come out with my very own version of APV perfection.

I never understood this either or why I would want to upload said information to my computer. What I do like about it is the fact that someone has the option to do that if they want. Not everyone like carto's, good try an atty, oh not for you try a clearomizer, really still not loving it .... here build your own.

If it helps you stay off the smokes, give'r.

Wow, I haven't heard about that. Granted, I stopped chasing hardware when I found what worked for me. I suppose one useful feature would be to use it to keep track of how much juice you used. Everyone likes to talk about X ml per day/week/whatever that they use, or their atty/carto lasts for X amount of days; that isn't a very accurate measure.

Counting puffs would be another way of tracking your usage, though there is still room for variance. The lockout seems like it's only useful for a reminder.

If you could upload it to your computer, you could probably make some graphs of some kind.

I'm with you on that, give that space in the programming to something more useful such as a screen (hint hint janty)

Yet another reason the MiD is just meh... I can read, and my Rave days are over. I don't want to decipher a strobe light of colors and flashes to figure out what voltage I'm at or what res my atty is. Another one that could be great, but just comes up a little short.

The puff counters are there for people who are using the harm reduction method of vaping to eventually achieve total cessation from vaping and analog smoking. It's like taking a pack of twenty analogs and only letting yourself smoke a certain number; some use the puff counter in the same way. You give yourself forty puffs a day for a week and then you go down to thirty. Then twenty and so on. It's a useful thing for many people who haven't just switched from analogs to vaping full time. I am not one of those people, but I am glad that manufacturers had that idea for people that are. Have you ever manually notated how many times you've vaped in fifteen minutes, let alone a day? It's a good feature. I agree more APVs should have features the Janty has, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for a puff counter.

Sounds sadistic to a point. I'd much rather lower my nic levels gradually and puff as much as I want.

So would I, but many starting out may not have the drawer/cabinet full of juice (yet!) that often seems to accrue. How many puffs did a cigarette last me? No idea. It varied according to time of day, mood, how much time left on the break, etc. A counter would be something more measurable.

One problem with puff counters, that has been brought up in the past is that everyone takes different lengths of draws at different times. Breathing paterens, nic fit, time constraints on vape time, ect..... So the puff counter may not be real accurate. This being said, my wife told me she thought it was a great idea, and one she would want.

Different strokes for different folks.

Some people like to know how many puffs they've had. Some like to know how many puffs they get on their batteries over time. Some don't care at all.

Its not like people are being forced to use a feature they don't want to use. No different than a new vehicle coming with On Star. Just because you don't use it doesn't mean someone else won't.

If you want a device tailored to only your needs ... pay someone to make one. Other wise you're going to be buying devices that try to appeal to the largest audience possible.
