Any one have any suggestions on a new cloud chasing atty? Im a huge fan of the mutation series and also the Big Block 454 by Kryptonite vapors. Really into rebuildables and alot of air flow.
I believe a lot of it depends on build, wicking, juice, and overall technique more than the atty in my personal opinion. I've seen $100+ attys perform on par or worse than some $30 ones and I've seen some that were $100+ perform way better. I'm in love with the mutation x v4 at the moment (got mine around $34), excellent flavor, and I've literally chucked a 10ft cloud across my room and watched it explode on the wall opposite of me. But all is personal preference and personal opinion, mine leans towards the x v4
In the $40 range, I have the Mutation XS and the Doge V2S which comes with the normal top cap and a delrin top cap. The problem with the Doge for me was always that the metal got so hot. The delrin solves that though. The Mutation XS has 3 air holes under each coil as well as the usual ones on the side gets massive airflow. Everything on the Doge fits nice and tight, while the Mutation is loose the top cap falls off in my pocket constantly. The Doge has 3 posts while the Mutation has 4. I think the Mutation gives me bigger clouds, but the Doge is built like a tank. I am constantly out and about, and the Doge is always with me, the Mutation stays safe at home.
If I were stranded on an island with only 1 atty, I'd pick my Velocity. Clouds, air flow, and flavor for days plus very easy to build on and a deep juice well. Only thing is, it's meant for only dual coil but you can build a single in the middle of the posts I just haven't tried that yet.

I had totally forgotten about that single coil placement option, thanks for reminding me!
I just received my Velocity clone (ohh...the horror, I know) that I want to play with for a bit before I buy a genuine one and then pass this clone on to someone else.
I own several Doges now (got a whole pack of 'em, so-to-speak), and I stand by them wholeheartedly. Pretty big deck for building, and the airflow (at max) is friggin' MONSTROUS. This allows for some really fat surface area coils, which (I've found) work the best for cloud-chasing, compared to tiny 3/4-wrap low-ohm coils.
I have a GA Rampage that makes fog, but it's a 3 coil design and it's tricky to place the coils. My CLT2+ is also a great cloud machine. Both have great airflow and deep juice wells. I'm looking at the velocity for my next purchase though. I hear great things about it.
I keep several in daily rotation with different flavors in them so my tongue doesn't get bored. Plus I DIY and RDAs are the easiest way to sample new flavors. But, yeah. I hear good things.
ya ive messed around with the dogg a lot. The only draw back I see to it is that top cap and you cant fit any drip tips on it (to much spit back in builds that I have done on it)

I love the mutation series I have a V3 but want to get a V4, and I definitely agree with you that the build is 1000x more important then the atty, but the deck you're building on is still a very important factor to produce the perfect cloud.
