If you're planning to simply run in power mode, Kanthal is fine. However, if there's any chance you might want to try TC at some point SS is better as it can be used in either manner.

If you're in the US, Temco is an excellent source of inexpensive wire for both SS and Kanthal. Special Metal Wire

At this point, since Stainless can be used for either TC or wattage, it's winning people over more and more and just provides you with both possibilities and the "experience" people tend to state is usually that it's the same as Khantal for most or better.

I prefer to stick with 28 and 26 gauge for the decks I have and it's been just fine. I'll probably be testing 24 at some point just to see how it'll be as I'm curious, but I won't go thicker, no point in having a wire hanger wire in my devices.

I have used Kanthal, Ni80, SS and Ni200. I can't stand the taste with Kanthal so I went to Ni80. It's ok but I like the clean flavor I get off of SS. I build advanced builds like the alien and the staggered fused clapton so I use mainly 26 and 32 but if I'm just building a coil for a friend or just wanting to build a quick coil that will produce good flavor and vapor production I will use 24 gauge. It a good gauge to work with. Not too small and not too big. It would work on your 24mm rda with no problem. A dual coil 24 gauge SS with 8 wraps on a 3mm post will put you at .19 ohm. I have 22 gauge SS and use it every once in a while but with what your doing you don't need to go that big.

I prefer N80 (nichrome) to Stainless Steel or Kanthal, but all three work. All three can be found at a vape shop. The only one that is typically found in pedestrian stores is stainless steel. You need to be careful as it can be coated with materials that can make it unsafe to use for vaping. But, craft stores do often carry it in the beading section. Nichrome & Kanthal could rarely be found at a hardware store for rebuilding heating elements.

I'm planning on going to local vape shop, is there any specific cotton I should get? I'm probably going to get 24gauge kanthal just because I know they sell that

Why ask for recommendations if you're just going to go with "whatever they have"?

Sorry if I sound blunt, but people took the time to reply to you and well...

Lightningvapes has wick/wire bundle options.
Could pick one of each, say 28g ss/cotton bacon
And 26g ss/ native wicks and then just try to find the one you like the best. Might not like either one, but you will have some cotton for leaner times.
Do you use steamengine? It will help you with getting what you want out of your builds.

I agree with @Imfallen_Angel. You took the time to start a thread on here asking our recommendations. We take our time to give you our recommendations and to why we think that and you go with something that you already use and know. I don't mean to sound mean or be blunt either so please don't take it that way. Step outside the box or "comfort zone" and see what else is out there. We gave you our recommendation because we have been in your spot before and asked the same thing at one time or another. We are telling you what we have found out to be better or what we personally like more to help you broaden your horizons in vaping. Try something new @Raymundo Domango and try SS and don't just settle. Heck you can find wire all over the internet for cheap. I use Lightning Vapes. They have all the tire you would ever need and cheap prices. They are in central Florida (an hour or so away from me) and they have decent shipping prices and are quick to get it out. I just ordered some the other day and I ordered it before noon and it was shipped out the same day. I got it 2 days later.

Just my 2¢ worth.

No reason to be sorry because many of us started out in the quest for knowledge and I personally have made some amazing friends. Hoping you also have the same awesome experience yourself!

+1 for cotton bacon even though lately I've been using Ko Gen Do Japanese cotton pads. A lot cheaper than cotton bacon. I just placed an order on Amazon for a box of 60 pads for $16 including shipping. That will last you a while depending on how often you change your cotton. I rewick every 2-3 days (I only run RDA's) and it last me a while even rewicking that often.

I can understand that local stores might be lame, but you need to consider ordering online, as not only you'll get exactly what you want, but probably at 1/2 the price that local stores sell for.

If none of your local stores have SS, that's just really bad and means that they aren't probably the best place to get gear or advice, as you can see SS is quite the "winner" here and for good reasons.

For wick, cotton bacon V2 if they have it is excellent, the goal is to get clean organic (no chemicals) type, that is combed so that the fibers are all in the same direction.

You can get excellent "organic" japanese or egyptian pads (large packs under 20 $ that should last you ages), but note that with pads, you need to look up the Scottish roll method to do them "right" (maximizes the wicking).
