What resistance head should I use in my iClear30s?

I bought a IClear30s that came with a 2.0ohm head and I also bought a 1.5ohm replacement head for it. Which on should I use and what are the performance difference between the two?

Also, in the constant power mode in my APV set to 8.0 watts, will a 1.5ohm head perform the same as the 2.0ohm at 8.0 watts?

They will perform the same at 8 watts, provided your APV can supply the correct voltage to the coil. IOW, 8 watts is 8 watts in VW mode, the device provides the correct voltage to achieve that. I vape my Iclear 30s's at 9 watts with 2.1 ohm coils.

Constant power mode is there so you can switch between those resistances without having to worry about it.

Mine taste like burnt crap by 7 watts. Both the 2.1 and 1.5 ohm coils across 4 different iClear 30s tanks.


To answer the OP, the 1.5ohm coil will vape a little hotter, produce a little more vapor, and have a little less flavor than the 2.1ohm coil at the same wattage. It's a physically smaller coil so the conversion from liquid to vapor happens faster but over a smaller area.

Thanks guys. I did some quick calculations and it looks like to get the 8 watts, the 1.5 ohm coil needs 2.3 amps at 3.5 volts and the 2.1 ohm coil needs 1.9 amps at 4.1 volt which I think my APV can supply.

So, as I am understanding it, at 8 watts, the 1.5 ohm coil will supply more vapor, while the 2.1 will provide more flavor.

I set my VTR to 9W and vape them. I dunno man, to each their own, but I don't get dry or burnt hits. I vape my PT2 microcoil rebuilds (1.8 ohm) wicked with cotton at 7 watts. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm just amazed you can vape a 30S that high. Other clearos with similar resistance, yes, but for me at least, the 30S always starts tasting burnt at about 6.5-6.75 watts. I made the mistake once of firing it at 8 watts and seriously considered throwing the coil away after the taste I got from it. I did immediately replace it, and I'll rewick it later before using it again.

Are you talking about the Iclear 30, or the 30s? I pulled apart a 30 (not 30s) head, and it looks like a cast iron bi*&h to re-wick, much less re-coil, although I might take a stab at it some time. I'm looking at a spiffy new 30s coil right now, and I just don't see how you might be able to do that.

If you know something, spill the beans! Those things are $$$!

I have a VV/VW mod. When I put it on VW at 8.0W, the chart says 6v with a 4.25 resistance. Does anyone use resistance that high?

Every time somebody posts something like that in the new members forum, I imagine the hundred or thousand people that end up cranking their wattage up to 9 watts, burn some liquid on the coil, then it's all down hill from then, then give up and go buy a pack of cigs.

If you're not getting burnt taste then you're not doing anything wrong;
either that or your throat is shot.

Are they plain ordinary stock protank/evod stock coil or have they been rebuilt or rewicked.
What mod are you using.
Are you setting 9 watts or are you just calculating that.
Is you mod using mean or rms.
Are you using high PG liquid.

They are recoiled w/30 coil, with cotton.
A new Sigelei VMax in RMS, set at 9.5 ohms with 65/35 juice, and , no my throat isn't shot.
I am taking quick, long hits on it tho, don't see any reason not to

Exactly, they're recoiled with cotton, not stock coils straight out of the package.

Now I don't have a 30s, I have just a straight 30, but depending on the juice I range between 8-14w.

Bear in mind, that with dual coil, each coil will only see half the wattage. In parallel circuits, both coils will see the same voltage, but they split the current. When you have a 2ohm dual, It's actually two coils a little over 4ohms each.

I also tend to need to use lower wattage and get better taste out of the two ohm heads than the 1.5.

I'm currently vaping halo tribeca @ 10.5w. I also have some zeus juice pumpkin pie that I vape in a vivi nova dual coil @ 9w. I admittedly like a warmer vape (but, on the same token, lower on the pg).

on my iclear 30s have it set a 4.7 or 5.0 volts anything less its to cool and not enough vape . but i do it it sometime at 6.0volts also but you cant hit it to long thats for sure .

It also depends on the guage of the coil wire, and on whether your power source outputs flat DC.

But roughly speaking at 8 watts both of them should seem the same.

There'll be other things having a greater affect on the consistency of your vape, such as airflow, coil gunking, leaking/flooding, wicking issues.
