What Nicotine strength would you recommend?

Hi everyone,

I'm just about to buy an Apollo Superior Ego kit to make the transition to E-Cig's and hopefully away from analogs .

The only advice I need really is what Nicotine strength to go for. I smoke around 12 filtered roll ups every day, sometimes 15 if I'm a bit stressed but rarely. Each roll up has about 1.2mg of Nicotine.

I was thinking about going for 18mg of Nicotine as that seems about right on first glance but could that possibly be too strong?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

I suppose the right answer is only you will be able to tell.

I used to smoke a pack to a pack and a half of lights, and I first purchased 24, 18 and 12mg juice to start off with. I soon settled with the 18mg as I could vape enough to get the hand to mouth satisfaction and get enough nicotine to reduce the cravings but not feel any side-effects.

I'd recommend getting a at least a couple of different strengths so you can experiment a little, but if you only were going to buy one strength, 18 might work for you.

EDIT - and I forgot to say welcome to the ECF :toast:

Thank you guys.

I think I'll get 18 and 12mg then. Going to get a normal tobacco flavour and thought I'd try the RY4 as that's supposed to be very good.

Very exited to try vaping for the first time I must say. Love the idea of getting so many different flavours, clearomizers etc. Wanted to get a more advanced E-Cig so I can top up with E Liquid as well as a better battery life. Any of you had experience with the Apollo Ego?

Here's to hopefully many years of vaping, a life without analogs and better health. :)

Everyone is different in this regard, some of it having to do with a pretty wide range in the absorption of nicotine different people get from vaping. You could take two different people with the same smoking profile and one would get practically bowled over by 12 mg nic while for the next person 24 mg might not be enough. When you start it's one of the first things you have to figure out.

Get the 12, 18, 24 mg selection, preferably in small sample sizes, in order to sort it out. In the end none of it will go to waste. If 12 mg is not enough you will just chain vape through it. If 24 seems like too much you can always mix with with the 12 mg or some 0 mg liquid to dumb down the nic level.

It all depends on your gear. With an ego style setup I needed 24 mg nic to satisfy my needs. Now that I am into re-buildable atomizers, rba's, and vape at high watts, 12 mg is what I must use or will get to much nicotine in my system and walk around dazed and confused.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on trying the world of vape. Lots of great info here, and so much great equipment to choose from.

Thanks guys. All ordered now. Thought I'd just order 12, 18, and 24mg to be safe. Don't think I'll need the 24mg as I'm not a heavy smoker and only smoke rollies but thought I'd get it just in case. Going to try and get my Dad into vaping too, will let him try it out when I get it. He's been smoking about 50 a day for thirty years so will need to get 36mg or more for him lol.

Thought the Ego would be a good middle ground for the start, didn't want to get a normal cigarette style one as the battery's don't last apparently and they're obviously not as customizable etc. If all goes well I'll look into customizing.

Will post again when I get it and give you my impressions. Just hoping it's close to real cig's. Very excited.

Thanks again guys.

Congrats! Picking stuff out is the hardest part of starting - so many styles and options to choose from. The bottom line is: at some point just cutting and committing to your first purchase and... starting!

You are absolutely right regarding skipping the cigalikes and heading straight for something eGo size. The constant charging required of mini batteries gets real tired, real fast.

I was smoking around the same as you - about 15 filtered rollups (Golden Virginia), but maybe 20-25 if I was out drinking in the evening.

I started on 18 mg but dropped to 12 mg after a few weeks.

As a fellow newbie (almost 4 weeks), I'd add that it may depend on how much you like your chosen flavors. My wife and I (she was 2 packs/day) started at 18mg. She chain vaped so much she asked about lowering nic levels. I plan on lowering on my ADV ("all day vape") flavors but keep my sweeter and richer flavors at 18mg because I don't vape as often when I have them loaded up.

Thanks guys.

I'll try the 18mg to start with, safe to say I'll probably be chain vaping it to start off with. If I get headaches, dizziness etc. then I'll lower it to 12mg. If I get cravings then I'll up it to 24mg.

Can't wait to try it. I've encountered so many people who have given up real cigs thanks to vaping. I still cannot believe people are questioning their effectiveness.

I'm almost positive I'll give up the cigs. Been smoking since I was 15 and I'm 21 now and am noticing my stamina is declining. I keep fit and play in a football team but am noticing it's becoming harder. Especially that tight feeling in the chest.

Not to mention the financial saving as well. Although I'd vape even if it costed more. The health benefits far out way the cost.

Should have it tomorrow so will post a thoughts thread. Hopefully will be able to get my Dad to kick the analogs too.

Thanks guys.

I guess it's different for each person and doesn't necessarily relate to how much you smoke.

One thing I'm looking at is the clearomizers. Apparently CE4's can be a tad unreliable and are just disposable. What clearomizer would you recommend? Can you get wickless clearomizers?

Sorry for the newb questions, I've been researching but it's a bit confusing

I recommend 2 tanks with 2 different strengths; one high and one low. Use the low one most of the time and only take an occassional puff of the high.

mini protank 2.

The replaceable atomizer they use is common among several bottom coil clearomizers.
pyrex glass tank.
dismantleable for cleaning
