nichrome wire has a lower resistance than kanthal, so yes it does get hotter quicker.
so you have to build bigger
coils with nichrome to get the same resistance with same gauge kanthal.
If you are asking this question because of the evol dna 40 chips new feature, the reason nickle 200 is required for the temp function, is that nickle wire has a very predicatible reistance behavior at different heat temps, which kanthal does not. Using the nichrome with the dna 40, in essence you are no longer
vaping by voltage or wattage... but by temp. Which should mean less burning of wick and
juice. Ni200 is pure Nickle wire and not to be confused with Nichrome wire, which is an alloy of nickle and chromium(which is added to improve oxidization and corrosion)
