Hello everyone,

So I have my eyes set on the lost vape Therion DNA166. It's a gorgeous mod, but besides being able to change some prompts/screens, change profiles to your coils (which you can arguably do with any regulated mod as long as you are in the correct mode)....

what are the benefits or negatives of owning a dna Mod? What do you like about them? What can they do that other mods can't? Please share your opinion, to help me make an informed decision on what the benefits etc are of having one.

Hi and welcome,
Super Accurate TC?
Why are you considering buying a DNA/TC enabled device?
What else have you considered?
What are you using for TC now?

Cheers
I

The reason for my question was for things like "super accurate TC". I have several mods, I just really like the look and feel of the therion, but its one of those things where I don't really need it, but wouldn't mind having it...just figured I would ask about DNA on account I don't own any DNA mods. As far as TC, my experience thus far is only with Kanthal but once I get back to the United States I am going to dive into different wires and experiment a bit.

Gotcha.
I only dabble with TC, so the AF firmware on my Eleaf/Joye devices is plenty accurate enough for my needs.
I'd say: If you like the Therion, get it.
If you are on the fence, start with a cheaper TC device to ensure you like and/or will use TC.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply, but the therion should be able to do regular VW if i am not mistaken...so are you saying that one of the only real benefits of DNA is super accurate temperature control mode?

You will pay a premium for the DNA chip set if you only plan to use it in VW/VV mode.
Spend some time on the EVOLV - Home website to learn more about the chip and the software.
But again, it you like how it looks and performs...buy it.
If it fails to meet your expectations, sell it on.

cheers

Another con is setting it up and changing anything requires the use of a computer.

However with the new 'color' chip set you can change many settings right on the device. The only one out right now is the 75C chip set. I expect later this year they will release the 250C (which in dual battery mode is the 167).

The DNA board is what got me to a virtually full time TC vaper. The performance is so good, with an even draw without overheating, and customized preheat means my big coil builds get to temp really fast.

Still, with recent mods offering things like wattage curves for use with non-TC stuff like Kanthal can offer you a sorta "knockoff" variable power during your draw for less money.

All that said, the Therion is a great mod, well built, looks great, and I have a few of them. If you're willing to spend the extra you'll have an excellent mod with lots of growth potential for your future vaping styles.

That's what I did when I bought my first Mod in a reallllllly long time. I had a sigelei 150 TC and had an itch for a DNA Mod and the therion really caught my eye but I bought a Smok GX instead cuzz it was cheaper! [emoji20]
2 months later... I have my GX 2/4 for sale
[emoji379] and I've decided instead to build my 1st dna 250 Mod I was torn between building one and the Lost Vape paranormal, such a beautiful mod.

    Accurate TC.

    Customisable profiles.

The best battery monitoring on the market (including balanced charging).

I only have mods with the DNA chip sets, and only recently switched to TC. Previously I simply appreciated the the quality power delivery combined with the trustworthy battery care.

I rarely use my 18650 mods now as my daily driver is a DNA200 with a 3 cell lipo. To my mind the best combination of chip set and battery.

If you really like the mod, the added features are just a bonus, in my eyes, it's great if you will use them, and if you plan on experimenting with TC you'll know that you have a really accurate mod for that. The main thing, however, is that you'll enjoy the mod in whatever mode you use it.

Some mods are just like that, for me it was the Steampunk Tesla 120 mod. I did not need it but it just appealed to me over other mods, and when I got it, I was so pleased with the vape and the features, I bought a backup immediately! I'm a MTL vaper so having that kind of mod wasn't necessary for me whatsoever, but I love it, it does TC well enough for me (I use SS coils, they're a bit more forgiving) and I just love it. Haven't come across another since that appeals to me as much, though I'm sure it's a matter of time.... :)

I'm not trying to intentionally throw a spanner in the works, but my experience with the DNA chipset is that it's over-rated and overly expensive. There are plently of other TC chipsets that work just as well if not aguably better for far less money. But to put that in context I hardly ever use TC and only have one DNA 200 mod.
If the mod you have your eye on uses the Evolve chipset then you have no choice, though you may find that it works well for you.
