    Somewhere between here and there
Hello again. Today I’m here to talk about the new Argus P1s that was sent to me by Voopoo in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The P1s is the latest addition to the Argus series of pod devices. It has an internal 800mah battery with three LED lights that flash in varying colors while in use while also indicating the battery level. The P1s has a 5V/2A fast charging rate which should minimize downtime while delivering an output range of 5-25 watts. The pods are compatible with the entire Argus family and boast a double coil lifespan.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the P1s is stylish yet simple. The front of the box has the Voopoo and Argus P1s names on the front along with a color picture of the device. There is also the large nicotine warning statement that has become all too familiar on devices targeted for the U.S. market. The back side of the box has a contents list and the company information. The box opens from one end and the device is sitting in a plastic tray with the extra pod, lanyard, user manual, a USB-C charging cable, and a card that shows the different Argus devices and pods that are compatible. I was told that the card would not be included in the samples but it appears that it was included unless Voopoo was talking about something else.

The P1s is equipped with the new ICOSM Flavor Interpretation Code that was announced on September 28th. I am not one to copy and paste but felt like the explanation of this was best described by Voopoo instead of me so here is what Voopoo has to say about ICOSM and some promotional images that are available on the website.

    Unique Structure, Clean Experience

To improve the vaping taste experience comprehensively, iCOSM CODE adapts the unique capsule structure over the base of the cartridge, isolates the condensate and prevents e-liquid leakage.

    Silver Ion Material, Original Freshness

iCOSM CODE keeps the original freshness through the silver ion coated on the cartridge that helps seal the e-liquid's freshness.

Multiple Air Inlets Structure, Smooth Airflow

iCOSM Flavor Interpretation Code integrates multiple air inlets at the bottom of the cartridge, which balance the air flowing and ensure sufficient airflow intake, bringing a smooth vaping experience.

    Multiple Interpretations, Distinct Experience

iCOSM CODE allows for various interpretations of flavor, as coils with different resistances affect the taste of the e-liquid differently. By enabling both strong and mild flavors, and thick or thin vapor, users can create personalized flavors that cater to their preferences, making each vape session unique.”

The Argus pod cartridges are compatible with the Argus G, Argus Pod SE, Argus Z, Argus P1, Argus Pod, as well as the P1s. The standard pod has a liquid capacity of 3ml while the TPD version has a 2ml capacity. The pods are tinted but not so dark that you can’t easily see the liquid level. The pods included in the sample kit are .7 ohm and 1.2 ohm. Both pods are side fill type pods. I did experience a little bit of a mess when filling with a glass dropper bottle. They are more easily filled with a 10ml plastic bottle. The resistance of each pod is stamped into the rubber plug and there is an arrow pointing in the direction from which the plug should be lifted for filling.

The pod opening on the P1s has the usual two plated spring loaded contacts that supply power to the coil. There is a strong magnet on each end that align with the magnets on the bottom of the pods. Also in the picture below you can see the airflow sensor since the P1s is an auto draw only pod device. The magnets hold the pods in very securely with little to no chance of coming out accidentally. The magnets in the pods are not visible but are definitely there. I experienced a little trouble trying to take a picture with the two pods side by side because the magnets on the pods want to make each other turn if you get the pods too close. There are four holes on the bottom of the pods that allow plenty of airflow. Initially I found the airflow to be a bit too much for me.

I really like the design aspect of the P1s. To me it has a really attractive appearance. The combination of the black and white colors along with the clear body design gives it a high end appearance. The front side of the device has Gene name on the white upper portion of the body indicating that the Gene chip is used. Below that is the three light battery indicator. It cycles between a series of different colors while taking a puff. The three different lights indicate the battery level. Three lights indicate that there is more than 60% battery left, two lights indicate that there is between 30 and 60% battery remaining, One light indicates less than 30% battery remains. The rated battery capacity is 800mah and has a fast charging feature of 5V/2A which will get you back up and running quickly in about 20 minutes. Also on the front side the Argus name is printed. The opposite side states that the Gene chip is inside and has the Voopoo name printed on this side.

There is a single airflow hole located on each of the thinner sides that allow quite a bit of airflow. For me, I was looking for a tighter draw while using the 1.2 ohm pod but it was a really loose MTL draw almost to the point where you could do an RDL but not quite.

The USB-C charging port is located on the bottom of the P1s. This is a common location for this type of device. With the fast charging circuit built into the device, you should be able to do a full charge in about 20 minutes as long as the power adapter and cord you are using has the correct capacity.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Voopoo Argus P1s is a very nice addition to the Argus family of pods. It’s great that they have made so many devices compatible with the different pods. For this one, the appearance really stands out to me compared some of the others that I’ve tested. It is auto draw only but to me that’s a good fit for this size/type of device. I of course would have preferred that they had designed it with some type of airflow control.

I started out with the 1.2 ohm pod filled with one of my favorite NET tobacco flavors. Initially I found the flavor production to be quite weak but it improved quite a bit after going through about 1.5 pod fills. As I mentioned earlier, I would have preferred that the 1.2 ohm pod had a tighter more proper MTL draw. To me the draw was way too loose. I started putting my finger over one of the side airflow holes while using it but found this awkward to hold and take a puff so cut a small piece of tape and covered one of the holes. This really improved the draw and seemed to improve the flavor production.

Next up I filled the .7 ohm pod with a mix mint recipe that I use every day at work. Flavor and vapor production were improved compared to the 1.2 ohm pod. Once again though with both airflow holes open the draw hit that awkward place for me where it’s too loose for MTL and too tight for RDL. This is just my preference and others may have a different opinion on this.

There is a lot of hype going on over this ICOSM Flavor Interpretation Code thing. Honestly, I’m not really seeing the benefit with the experience that I had while testing the two included pods. I wish that there were more spare pods included so I could test more different types of flavors in them.

Overall, the Argus P1s is a decent pod device that provides adequate flavor and vapor production. I’d like to thank Voopoo and Hillary for sending the Voopoo Argus P1s for this review. Thanks also to the readers. Below is a link to the website for your viewing pleasure.
