I've been meaning to post my comments on my first Viking Vapor order. Excellent customer service and very quick shipment. I had a few questions and some last minute changes and requests that they were extremely responsive to. I have been looking for e-liquid vendors that offer good quality, sample sizes, good prices, reasonable shipping costs, and a good selection of flavors including tobacco. I had already placed an order of samples from another vendor before I ran across Viking, but they had little or nothing in the way of tobacco flavors, so I decided to start off by trying some of Viking's tobacco flavors. I got these in just about 2 weeks ago just in time before heading on vacation.
I ordered 3 flavors in the 7.5ml trial size, Cherry Smoke Tobacco, Virginia Fire Cured, and Mar Boh. I also ordered a fourth flavor, a 15ml of the RY4. I got these all with 24mg nicotine and full throat hit. Following are my impressions of these flavors in order from the least to most liked.
I'll start with the Cherry Smoke Tobacco. My motivation for choosing it was that 20+ years ago I used to smoke a pipe. Cherry was one of several flavors I enjoyed so I thought I would try it. I was a bit confused about whether this was in fact a tobacco flavor or not. It was listed with the signature series but not with the tobacco flavors, and also I saw references to it in previous reviews as just "Cherry Smoke". I inquired and was assured that it did have some tobacco flavor, and was given the option of going heavier than normal on the tobacco. I asked for a little more than normal but not too heavy. To make a long story short, this flavor is not to my liking at all. The taste itself is quite nice, but the smoke aroma is just so overpowering it really detracts from the experience, so I'm unable to enjoy the taste. It's so over the top I don't know that I'll be able to vape this stuff at all. I'm going to try and find out whether there is anything I can mix it with that will cut the aroma waaay down without making it tasteless in the process. In order to get the smoke aroma and flavor down to an acceptable level I'm thinking I would need to dilute it by at least 2 to 1, and possibly as much as 4 to 1. I'm really glad I didn't order this in double flavor, which I can't begin to imagine. I won't be ordering this one again, and I plan to steer clear of any flavor with "smoke" in it's name from this or any other vendor just to be safe, lol.
The RY4 was much better, if not quite as good as I had hoped. My second ever juice order included a Dekang RY4 since I'd read so many good things about it. Not so great chemical smell from the bottle, though the aroma while vaping is not as bad, and the taste itself is quite good. Within a a short time I grew to like it and it became pretty much my favorite all-day vape(I had only a handful of decent flavors). I reasoned that a homebrew RY4 would be similar but even better. This, and the fact that I had only a few drops of the Dekang RY4 left prompted me to go with the larger 15ml size. Unfortunately, where the Dekang version was perhaps just a little too subtle, this one for me goes just a little too far in the other direction where the aroma is concerned. Not nearly as much so as the Cherry Smoke, but still a bit stronger than I would prefer. It also seems to me to have a hint of some kind of liquor flavor which I can't quite put my finger on, and which I'm not yet sure I like. However, all in all, it smells better and tastes better to me than the Dekang RY4, even if it is just short of ideal. I haven't decided yet whether I'll order this again or keep looking for an improved RY4 even more to my taste. It may grow on me yet as the Dekang version did before it.
The Virginia Fire Cured has a very nice flavor. The aroma is a bit stronger than I would ideally like, though it's pleasant one. I'm quite happy with this flavor, and I won't have any trouble getting through this bottle. It's still just a little too early for me to say whether I would order it again the next time or roll the dice with another flavor I haven't tried yet. Right now I'm still on the fence.
Almost as an afterthought, the last item I threw into my order was the Mar Boh tobacco flavor. I never liked Marlboro cigs so the name held no appeal. Honestly, my thought was that I might use it to add more tobacco flavor and also tone down the smoke flavor of the Cherry Smoke if I needed to. Wouldn't you figure that out of the whole lot this is the one I ended up liking the most? The balance between the taste and aroma are just right for me. I wouldn't hesitate to smoke this one indoors, though I still wouldn't necessarily expect to get away with stealth vaping. The aroma to me is just like that of walking into a tobacco shop. It's not too strong nor perfumy, just a fresh, gentle, wafting tobacco aroma. I will definitely be ordering the big bottle of this stuff the next time around.
All of the flavors produced excellent vapor, solid throat hit, and had just a slight hint of sweetness to them. Although not all of the flavors were to my taste, I have no complaints overall. That's the whole point behind having cost-effective sampling sizes, so you can find out what suits you without spending a ton of money. I will definitely be ordering from Viking Vapor again and would recommend them to anyone. I think that all told, they offer outstanding value.
