I just bought an e-cig starter kit from Victory. It didn't come with any instructions, and I am lost as to how I'm supposed to use this thing.

First of all, how do I know when I've smoked a cigarettes worth of it? I saw something about the red tip flashing OTI, but I know I've smoked more than one cigarette, is it because I keep putting it down? Or is it because it only flashes when it needs to be changed? If so, how am I to know when to put it down? I smoked it until I got a raging buzz earlier today; nothing flashed.

Secondly, how often do I need to recharge the battery? And how will I know it needs to be recharged?

It's rather irresponsible for them to send out a deadly chemical with absolutely no instructions on how to use it!

Never heard of it. There are new rebranders every week slapping their name on something.

In general, this is when ecigs flash

1 - when low on power and need to be charged

2 - if it has a safety cutoff, it will flash (possibly quickly) when you have taken too long a drag - I hate short safety cutoffs. But especially with automatic batteries they are a necessary safety feature because wind and vibration can trigger and auto battery (a no-button battery) and could burn somebody. If a freshly charged battery flashes and cuts off when you are taking a long drag - that is a safety cutoff. The worst safety cutoffs also then have a period of 10-60 seconds when the battery refuses to work, then it will be enabled again. If your ecig has a short safety cutoff and you want bigger drags, try taking two short drags in a row and then inhaling.

3 - short circuit like liquids - either in the threaded connection area or worse inside the battery (the latter may damage or kill the battery).

4 - If you have put too low ohms an atomizer or cartomizers on a battery, it may refuse to work and and may flash (this is unlikely to be your problem)

Does that help?

I only use manual batteries with long cutoffs - V4L manuals with 10+ second cutoffs, 510 manuals with probably the same (I have never hit the cutoff), and fat models/mods with no cutoff I have ever reached.

from what i see on there site they say 6 cartomizers equals 12 packs of cigarettes  not even close. each cartos is about 3-6 cigs worth. looks like you purchased a knock off slim battery kit. the light will flash 10 times when the battery needs to be charged, or it will flash 3-5 times when you reach the cutoff time ( the amount of time you take to drag, its usually 5-6 seconds.) if you want to know when you smoked a cig worth, smoke the pv the same amount of time you would a cigarette. you paid a lot of money for a pretty basic kit. it only comes with 1 battery... you could have gotten a slim ecig for just over half that price with quality parts and two batteries as well as instructions. research is very inmportant before purchasing any pv or equipment. now that you are a member here, you will find lots of other better options for you.

they dont even tell you the nicotine strength on the website. i would very warry about inhaling anything in those cartomizers to be honest.

the site is a ripoff and a joke. tones of good info an reputable suppliers here on the forum.

I got it thru groupon. It only cost me $18 not the $60 they sell it for. I figured it was a good deal for 18 bucks. I should have researched it.

It came charged. I think it flashed more than 5 times. I don't know how I feel about the whole e-cig thing yet. It seems to be delivering a different amount of nicotine. When I first got it, the first couple of times I inhaled it was like the first time I ever smoked a cigarette (the buzz; I felt dizzy). Then it was like I was inhaling water vapor. I'm not impressed. Every now and then I inhale and get a buzz, which can't be safe.
