Sorry if this has been pointed out before but I was checking out a pack of shisha tobacco the other day and noticed that it contained a high percentage of vegetable glycerin. I can't remember the exact amount but it was a large percentage, 20% maybe. I don't know if anyone here has smoked shisha before, but it's very sticky and this is a result of the VG and molasses used.

A hookah pipe doesn't burn the tobacco, by placing the coal on the foil you are vapourising the shisha underneath at about 150degC/302degF (a fair bit higher than an atomiser and actually in the 'acroleine zone'). Now this is, of course, mixed with tobacco and flavourings so it's not going to tell you much about vaping VG alone, but lots of people have smoked shisha for years and I can't recall any particular problems regarding inhalation of VG vapours vs regular tobacco. Although the percentage of VG is smaller you are smoking a large wad of tobacco incorporating a large amount of glycerin.

I don't see why taking out the tobacco and molasses (and to be fair, any old junk they decide to flavour it with) is going to do anything other than make it substantially safer than smoking shisha, and ergo, substantially safer than cigarettes. I don't think we should expect any 'surprise' illnesses from vaping VG that's known to be free of toxins and carcinogens as it's effectively been vaped for decades.
