Hello fellow vapers!
Today I have the new vaporesso XROS pod kit for review. At first glance this pod looks very similar to the well-known uwell Caliburn, a very highly rated pod in the vaping community. Did never have a chance to try the Caliburn, so cannot compare.

You might think what XROS means, Vaporesso confirmed: ‘Xros pronounces "Cross" and the slogan is Cross the limit’.

I am expecting a very nice MTL and restricted DTL experience from this pod, let’s see if that in fact is the case.
Thank you @Vaporesso_Chelsea for sending me this kit for the purpose of this review! Very nice to receive this cool T-Shirt dedicated to the XROS

Review:
To start off with, I really like the metallic stainless steel built of this pod. It feels durable and lays nicely in the hand. The looks of this thing as mentioned remind me a lot of the Caliburn, I really like it. Its rounded edges make it a comfortable grip, and its 50g weight a light pod. I do have a feeling the body is not very scratch resistant, as I have some tiny scratches on mine.

There is not much more to it functional wise then vaping and charging. It is really made to be simple in use, meaning it does not even have the 3-wattage levels. For me a pod like such should be as minimalistic as possible as I think pods are often the best device for those looking to quite smoking. Depending on the pod entered it will either output 11w (1.2ohm MTL) or 16w (0.8ohm RDL).
What I do miss on this device is the ability to change wattage level, like on the other similar pods. Having three different wattage levels helps to satisfy a wider range of vapers.
Great thing is that it allows for both button-activated draws and draw-activated draws, always good to have both options on a pod. The auto-draw reacts fast, and the button activated draw as well. I personally only use it as draw activated. The fact you can also turn of the pod entirely (5 clicks) is an additional safety feature, many draw-activated pods do not have such option.
Fire-button is quite small, but it makes the pod look more elegant. It reacts well and the LED indicator under the fire-button is bright enough to tell what battery level you are at (Green 70-100%, Blue 30-70% and red 0-30%). Pity the fire-button is plastic, would have been nice if it also would have been made from stainless steal.

USB-C it is, don’t remember any Vaporesso device with USB-C, this might be their first one. A full charge takes about an hour, and generally the device easily holds up for more than a full day with the 1.2ohm pod, with the 0.8ohm pod it almost makes it through a full day. Proper charging and battery performance in my opinion.
What I find interesting is the fill method of the pod. It is the second device I owned having such fill system (the Vladdin RE had it). You do not need to take the pod out of the device, you can simply take of the mouthpiece and directly fill, very comfortable. Also, the transparent pods are very nice, since the pod is not drowned inside the device you can see the liquid level without taking out the pod. Pods click well into place and sit flush with no rattling.

Probably a downside I have for this kit is that the pods are disposable ones, it would have been nicer to see coil replacement instead of entire pod replacement. You will see this in price, as two pods cost around 11-13$, while normally you can get 5 coils for such price. Of course, this kit is quite new, so the price of pods will drop overtime.
To make this pod even better, it has airflow adjustment! Not on the pod, but on the actual device. A simple tiny lever can be moved left or right to open or close the airflow. With one airflow hole open you get a semi-tight draw, not very tight, cigarette type of draw. With all uncovered you can get a nice restricted DTL hit.

How does it vape? Really good. Since both coil options are mesh the flavor is good for a pod. Vaporesso coils overall never disappoint to me. I like using the 1.2ohm pod the most, but the 0.8ohm also delivers a nice restricted lung hit. You can also use the 0.8ohm coil for MTL if you like a warmer vape.
Conclusion:
A really sleek looking pod that delivers good flavor. With its stainless-steel body and lightweight it’s a pod for on the go. Airflow adjustment and USB-C are probably the best part of this pod. Would have been nice if it had 3-level wattage option.
It’s a good pod for smokers that are looking to switch to vaping as its easy to use, has draw-activation and a comfortable filling system.
Can’t say if it’s the Caliburn-killer as I never used one, but I am convinced it does with its mesh coils. The MSRP for this kit is 30$ which is not the cheapest pod available, but well worth the price in my opinion. Downside is that it has disposable pods which at this moment are on the pricy side.
Another note from Vaporesso: ‘Vaporesso’s Parent Company Smoore International has gone public and became the first vaping company listed in HongKong’, congratulations Vaporesso!
Let me know if you have any questions about this device!
Thanks,
Sjoerd
