Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my review. Also thanks go to vaporesso for sending the Xtra 16W Pod System to me for review. I’ve been a long time fan of vaporesso hardware even before starting to do a few reviews for them. I hope to give an honest opinion on the Xtra in order to help you decide if it might be a product that you might enjoy using. I’ve tried several different pod devices and feel like I can give a fair opinion on this unit.

    What’s in the box?

    • One XTRA Mod

    • One XTRA 0.8 ohm Mesh Pod

    • One XTRA 1.2 ohm UNIPOD

    • One User Manual

    • One USB Charging Cable

    • One Warranty Card

The 1.2 ohm UNIPOD is rated at 11 watts and the .8 ohm Mesh Pod is rated at 16 watts.

My first impression on opening the box was that I couldn’t believe how small it was for a 900mah unit. It is very attractive in my opinion and just so happened to have received the color that I would have purchased myself. I filled the pod first and let it sit for a few minutes while topping off the charge. Five clicks on the button that is on the bottom of the unit and it is turned on which is indicated by the light on the side of the unit.

I started out with the .8 ohm pod simply because I thought that it would better fit my style of vaping. I used a diy berry custard mix in it that I had been using in an rta for a while and was familiar with the flavor profile and it was mixed at 70vg/30pg. I had no issues with proper wicking but did find that the mouthpiece got a little warm with chain vaping. I do very much like how the .8 pod has a red fill cap and the 1.2 pod has a grey cap so that it is easily seen which one you are picking up. Kudos to Vaporesso. Also, I really like how once the fill cap is pulled up that it is easily rotated to get it out of the way for filling. Many devices I’ve tried have a cap that you have to hold out of the way while filling. The port is plenty big in my opinion and I didn’t have any problems filling with a 10ml bottle that I normally use. I’m also a fan of the side fill port which is also used on the Osmall. To me, Vaporesso has done a nice job taking the hassle out of pod filling.

Be forewarned, the following are pictures of the device in my ugly hands. I work with my hands and they take a beating. I hope you don’t find them too offensive. I’ll also include some pictures that may show the unit a little better.

After a few days of use with the .8 ohm pod, I felt like I had a good feel for how it performed. I switched to the included 1.2 ohm pod. It had a much cooler vapor production and a fair amount less vapor produced. I honestly felt dissatisfied with the performance with my 12mg liquid. It might however be better with salt nic but I personally don’t care for it. I did notice that the 1.2 pod consumed way less liquid than the .8 which makes sense since the .8 is rated at 5 watts higher.

    Final Thoughts:

Overall, I liked the Xtra well enough with the .8 pod. I felt like the 1.2 pod was just too weak for my tastes. I would give this device probably about a 6.5 out of 10 for flavor production. With that being said, it is a pod device and I don’t usually think of a pod comparing to an rta or rda in flavor production. Like I mentioned earlier, I like the design of the pods with the side fill and the colored fill caps. The device itself is tiny and can easily be thrown in a pocket or purse( I assume since I don’t carry a purse). I felt like the 900mah battery was a good fit for the pods. I used the .8 intermittently for 1.5 days and the battery indicator did turn from green to blue but still didn’t need charged. With the 1.2 pod, I have used it two days at work with intermittent use and the light is still green. I almost forgot to mention that the Xtra is draw activated only. Pushing the button on the bottom will not fire the unit. I do like that you can turn it off if you want for carrying it around.

Ok, now what I didn’t like. I didn’t care for the 1.2 pod at all. It was a very cool and light vapor producer. I did find that if I took 2-3 consecutive draws without exhaling that I could get a warmer and more dense vapor production. I liked the .8 pod better but didn’t necessarily love it. After just a couple draws, the tip got a little too hot for my taste. Even though I do like the design of the pods, I would like to see something in between like a 1.0 ohm pod.

Maybe I’m being a little over picky but when you have tried so many mods, tanks, and pods then you get to where you just want it to fit your preference. This is a good device but I just couldn’t seem to find my happy place with the two pods. Kind of like Goldilocks, one was too hot and one was too cold for my taste.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read my review until the end. Also thanks to Vaporesso for supplying the Xtra Pod kit for review. I have truly enjoyed reviewing products for Vaporesso. If you’d like to take a more in depth look at this device and see some pictures without ugly hands then here’s a link for you.

Good review, but I don't think it's for me. I like dtl with lots of flavor and clouds.

I wouldn’t call it a cloud machine for sure. It does what it’s designed for but like I said, I think a 1 ohm pod might be better. The .8 gives decent flavor and vapor but not a cloud.
