The vaporesso Target PM80 SE Kit is the updated version of the Target PM80 kit, it has a slender design and a greater choice of Coil GTX, for the pleasure of do-it-yourself it is also available available separately from the GTX rba base.
In this New mod the power supply is provided by a single 18650 battery capable of pushing it up to 80W of maximum power, for management we find the AXON chip with the Smart VW mode (can be disabled) able to choose the best wattage for each GTX coil inserted .

    Enjoy the reading.

The packaging of the PM80 SE:

In the front we find the Vaporesso Target PM80 SE device in the foreground.
On the opposite side are the specifications, the content, the scratch and check, the batch number and the inevitable logos / brands.

    How it is made:

The front view of the PM80 SE highlights a vertically arranged rectangular Fire switch integrated in the 0.91 "LCD screen. The Up / Down keys are always positioned vertically at the bottom.

The opposite side to the front houses the plastic insert (carbon Look mine) very pleasant and soft to the touch and the Vaporesso logo at the bottom.

    6.jpg

On the side, the shiny metal part and the white lettering create a nice contrast with the decorative insert, the other side reflects the previous one and at the bottom houses the micro USB charging socket.

    7.jpg

One of the two opposite slots can be seen at the top for the air-flow which can be partialized with the grommets supplied in the Kit.
Attention: the rubbers have their own direction of insertion otherwise it will be easy to lose them.

    8.jpg

The pod housing obtained on the battery offers a good fit, has two magnets and 2 contact pins.

The lower part of the device bears the C E mark, the disposal logo, a series of vent holes arranged in two parallel rows and an indication of the origin of the product.

The door to access the battery compartment adopts a valid sliding opening and an equally valid and safe closing, the insertion direction for the 18650 cell is well marked.

    The Tank / Pod:

Vaporesso included in the PM80SE kit (as well as for the PM80) has inserted two Pods (the same), it is necessary to pay attention to the two reference notches obtained on the coil for the correct orientation of the airflows when inserting the coil.

The rubber for the refill (lower) is very robust, comfortable to open and close well, a refill system from the top would not have bothered me.

    11.jpg

    Coil GTX:

In the previous version with integrated battery a Coil GTX 0.2Ω Mesh (Range 45W-60W) and a GTX 0.3Ω Mesh (Range 32W-45W) were included in the kit in this version with 18650 cell the two coils included in the kit are both Mesh-Coil, one is the GTX 0.2Ω that we already know and the other is a new Mesh-Coil GTX 0.6Ω (Range 20-30W), but the news does not end here ...

    12.jpg

Below we see the various blister packs of five pieces of GTX coil, the 0.6Ω blister is missing (Vaporesso sent me only one 0.6Ω coil to be tested).

As already announced by Vaporesso here is the regenerable RBA complete with:
    - GTX RBA
    - Cotton
    - Preassembled coil
    - Screwdriver
    - Replacement O'ring

    13.jpg

    RBA:

The RBA base does not have a 510 pin to be screwed onto a box, this may seem like a complication during the regeneration operation, however due to the extreme simplicity of tightening the ties on the turrets, I have not found any complications, the screws cross are of good size and the ties once inserted between the head of the screw and the foot can no longer run away. Once the cotton mustache has been lowered into the trays, the two slits are left free by the Deck / Camino junction. The sub-coil hole has a diameter of 2mm.

Note: compared to the photo, the cotton mustache was reduced considerably before being placed in the buttonholes.

    14.jpg

Axon Chip: as already seen on other Vaporesso creations that adopt this software we find the useful Smart VW function.

    15.JPG

The PM 80 SE now has a 0.91 "oled screen, the PM80 with an integrated battery instead adopts a 0.98" TFT color screen.

The PM80 SE screen shows the percentage of remaining battery charge, below the coil value, below the number of puffs and the duration of the last shot, in the center the number of watts (VW mode) with the symbol of the vaping mode that we are using, below (in this case) having the Smart function active we also read the recommended wattage.

    16.jpg

How it works, Alerts and protections:

With five clicks on the fire we turn on / off the mod.

With three clicks on the Fire button we lock / unlock the wattage (we can vape), pressing Up / Down together we enter the setting, to navigate inside we use the Up or Down buttons, to enter the mode we have chosen we press Fire again; when the adjustment is complete, to confirm we press once again Fire.

In Smart VW mode (if activated) the AXON chip automatically suggests us and shows us directly on the screen the best wattage based on the mounted GTX coil, a really smart function.

In VW mode we can adjust the power with the Up / Down buttons, the increments / decreases are 0.5W at a time, from 5 to 80W, to disable the Smart function simply position yourself on VW MODE click on the Fire button, select NO with the down button, then exit.

In VV mode the increments / decreases are 0.1V at a time.

We also have the option to return to the factory settings (default) or the shortcut to exit the setting (exit)

If we want to read the firmware version installed on the mod, simply press Down / fire together.

During the charging phase, the percentage of the cell and the time remaining to complete the operation are indicated. As always and with any Mod I recommend loading the 18650 with an external charger.

    - Usb Input Protection: Usb input voltage is too high (USB input protection)
    - Low Battery: The battery is low (Low battery protection)
    - Check atomizer: Check that the Pod has been inserted correctly (No load protection)
    - Short Atomizer: The device has detected a short circuit (Short circuit protection)
    - Over Time: The activation of the shot has reached 10 seconds (Protection from prolonged activation)
    - Overheath: PCBA temperature is too high (Overheat protection)

    17.jpg

    Conclusions:

The PM80 SE with 18650 cell compared to the version with integrated 2,500Mah battery gives more peace of mind to those who like me prefer to go out with an extra 18650 cell rather than with two integrated Mods.

This new Target on an aesthetic level maintains the elegance of the previous version indeed the slender shape in my opinion makes it even more elegant, the construction materials are the same as before, some decorations change.

Technically, compared to the previous version, the screen and the management mode of some functions have changed.

Especially now there are new GTX-Coils and a regenerable GTX Base for DIY. During this exciting test the only coil that I have not tried yet (since I do not have one) was the 0.15Ω 60-75W.

Based on the type of vape for each of the coils and also for the RBA, I tested different air control solutions by dividing the inflow slots differently (six in total) with the special rubber supplied in the kit.

    18.jpg

    - The GTX-RBA base has a large Air-flow slot, therefore it also allows, based on the size of the deck, to vape well in flavors up to 30W, also well in MTL / open configuration from 16 to 20W by partialising the slots.
During the regeneration phase, the coil I obtained and tested was 0.7Ω, 5 turns Ka1 28ga on a 2mm tip (the smart function sets it at 22W) with this build I made 4-5 tanks and I didn't notice any loss, thanks also to the spot-on cotton on the first try.
On the rba with builds similar to my advice, plug three holes out of six to have a good aroma / vapor production balance.

    - The GTX 0.2Ω Mesh with 45-60W range we had already seen it on the previous PM80 is expressly designed for DTL, it produces a large amount of hot steam and a rich aromatic production, by default the axon chip the sect at 55W, given the good reactivity of the Mesh and the thrust of the circuit (insta-fire) I find that at 45W and with all 6 openings it is a more than satisfactory vape

    - The GTX 0.3Ω Mesh with a range of 32-45W: this too, like the previous one, is designed for the Flavor (we had already seen it on the PM80) it is automatically set by the Smart function at 35W, compared to the previous one it emits a less hot steam , in my opinion it is the most balanced in flavor and also in terms of yield / battery life, I used it at 32W with all six air-flows open, thus finding my best configuration for this head.

    - The GTX 0.6Ω Mesh with 20-30W range is the first of the 3 new GTXs that I have examined; it is designed for a restricted Flavor, the Smart function sets it to 22W automatically, it has almost the same performance as the previous one, I found the best performance at 25W with three slots on six closed, I find it very balanced on the performance / battery consumption side and for my way of vaping it is the one I use the most.

    - The GTX 0.8Ω Mesh 12-20W was introduced by Vaporesso for the PM30 (a new pod specifically designed for MTL use), on our PM80 it is set automatically by the Smart function at 16W.
I found this new GTX particularly profitable on the PM80 SE with at least three partialized holes, but thanks to the very small slot obtained directly on the coil it is able to throttle just enough the pull to make it still pleasant and "cigarettoso" the hit and the yield with several mg / ml is satisfying, the steam emitted is hot at the right point in relation to the MTL pull in sub-ohm, for me the best of the two MTL coils proposed.

    - The GTX 1.2Ω Regular 8-12W is the most choked of the lot, it is set by the Smart Function to 10W by default, the air-flow hole obtained on the coil is extremely small, consequently also with all the external slots open, in the final of shooting manages to close well, of course lovers of suffocated shooting will be able to derive satisfaction by choking the external eyelets at will with the supplied silicone caps. It is not my favorite of this lot of GTX, too cold, but I must say that it works well, at 10W I would never have believed in such a copious supply of steam and such a high reactivity, moreover the consumption of liquids / battery is really negligible .
