    Somewhere between here and there
Hello and welcome. Today I’ll be covering the vaporesso Armour S kit that was sent to me by Sourcemore in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. I really appreciate Sourcemore sending this one as I lost contact with Vaporesso about a year ago after having done reviews for them for several years. I have been unable to re-establish a connection with Vaporesso so far. Anyway, I’m excited to be here with you to talk about the Armour S kit. The Armour S can be powered by a single 21700 or 18650 battery with the included adapter and is controlled by the Axon chip that I’m pretty familiar with from having reviewed and used other Vaporesso mods. It offers several different modes of operation that I’ll talk about more later as well as some innovative features. Also included is the iTank 2 with a 5ml capacity while using the GTi coils that I have come to love prior to this review.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Armour S is similar to what I’ve seen from Vaporesso in the past. It has a black and green front with a nice color picture of the device contained inside. The back side has a list of the contents as well as some specifications listed and company information on the bottom. The last Vaporesso device I reviewed was the Luxe XR Max and it had very similar packaging.

Once opened, the contents of the box are exposed to show the mod, tank with .2 ohm GTi coil pre-installed, spare .4 ohm GTi coil, bubble glass, USB-C charging cable. User manual, safety guide, and an instruction card that shows the user the locking fire button feature and the battery door switch.

The mod comes with a sticker on the back side of the mod that shows the user where to press to open the battery door. When the battery door is opened for the first time the 18650 battery adapter will be found inside. The contact on the battery door is marked with a negative battery symbol indicating the correct battery polarity.

The Armour S is made from TPU and metal to give a very rugged appearance. It is a bit of a large mod but is very comfortable to hold and the fire button seemed to be the perfect position for me when thumb firing. Vaporesso designed an innovative fire button for the Armour S. It is basically a mechanical locking button. The button slides up and down to lock and unlock. In the up position the button is restricted from firing and once it is slid into the down position then it can be fired. The Armour name is stamped into the fire button. The first picture below shows the button in the locked position and the second shows it in the unlocked position.

The front of the mod has not only that really cool fire button but also has a color .96” TFT display along with the up and down buttons with an arrow stamped into each. Near the bottom is the USB-C charging port. The display shows the following information.

    • Set Wattage
    • Mode of operation
    • Puff counter/Time of puff
    • Coil Resistance
    • Battery level indicator
The Armour S uses the Axon chipset which I am somewhat familiar with having used and tested several different Vaporesso mods in the past. The button operation is as follows.

    • Press the fire button 5X to turn the device on/off
    • Press the fire button 3X to enter the menu
    • Once in the menu, the following modes of operation are available. F(t), Pulse, ECO, TC-Ni/SS/Ti
    • System set gives access to Smart, Themes, Brightness, Puffs, TCR lock, Default, and Versions options.

The tank included with the kit is the iTank 2. In this kit it comes with the straight glass covered by what I believe is an aluminum cage to protect the glass. There is also a bubble glass included with some spare seals but there is not a protective cover included for the bubble glass. Obviously as with any tank, it’s a good idea to disassemble the tank as far as possible and give it a good cleaning.

The iTank 2 comes with a straight glass and a metal cover over it. It has a 4.5ml capacity listed but nowhere have I seen the capacity listed when using the spare bubble glass. I just used a syringe and some PG to try to measure the capacity and it seemed to be between 7 and 8ml. I didn’t feel like I could get a full 8ml in it. The metal cover is slotted to allow the user to see the liquid level inside. Depending on the color of your liquid it can be slightly difficult to see the liquid level. The first picture below is the 4.5ml glass with the metal cover and the second is the included bubble glass. There is not a cover included for the bubble glass. In the second picture you can also see that there is a black arrow on the top cap pointing to the push button with a red dot on it. You simply push this button and the top forcefully swings open to expose the fill port that has a black rubber gasket over it. There is a spare gasket included with the kit. The spring is very strong on the top cap and takes a little bit of effort to close and latch the top cap after filling. The top cap has the Vaporesso name printed it three times.

The iTank 2 uses the GTi series of coils just like the original iTank did. I am very familiar with these coils as the .4 ohm GTi coil quickly became a favorite of mine ever since I first tried it due to flavor and vapor production as well as longevity of these coils. The Armour S comes with the .2 and .4 ohm mesh coils but there is also a .15 ohm mesh coil available for purchase separately. You can see below the recommended wattage ranges in the picture below. I liked the .2 ohm coil at 60 watts on the low end of the recommended range and the airflow about 1/3 open. I have always run the .4 ohm coils at 45 watts and find that they work very well and last a long time at that setting.

The bottom cap of the tank that secures the coil in place as well as making electrical connection has gold plated contacts for superior electrical connection.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have really enjoyed testing the Vaporesso Armour S kit that was sent to me by Sourcemore. I will admit that this mod is a little large and bulky for a single 21700 mod but I quickly became used to it. The sliding mechanical fire button is one of my favorite features on it. For me easy is good and it makes it so easy to lock the fire button in order to put it in a lunchbox or purse to carry around. The Armour S is big enough that I doubt most would be able to pocket carry it. Also the push button for opening the battery door is a really nice feature.

I normally don’t run much over 50 watts on any mod and tank combination but found the .2 ohm coil very flavorful while not making the vapor too warm at a 60 watt setting. I am sure you could easily push this coil to the maximum suggested wattage of 75 watts. I used the same lemon pound cake mix while testing both coils. I have used this same mix for at least 1-2 years and have tested multiple samples using it. The flavor production was very good with the .2 ohm coil.

I started the .4 ohm coil at 40 watts and the airflow about ¼ open. I worked my way up to my favorite setting for these coils which is 45 watts. I knew exactly what to expect as I currently have two of the original iTanks in rotation using the same coil. It had been a while since I’ve used the pound cake recipe on this coil so was once again very happy with the flavor and vapor production. To me it was as good as with the .2 coil except the vapor wasn’t quite as dense.

I felt like the iTank 2 performed well but honestly still prefer the original iTank. The spring loaded top cap is a neat gadget but the original top cap is easy enough to spin open and honestly it is easier to close after filling.

I’d like to thank Sourcemore and Kavis for sending the Vaporesso Armour S kit for this review. Also thanks to you the readers. Below is a link to the Sourcemore website as well as a coupon code that can be used to purchase one for yourself.

Well done Hitt, the photos and review are both wonderful. :thumb:
    Thank you very much!
Great review, but I tend to like smaller mods over big ones.
Thank you. I can’t imagine how much bigger the Max is than this one.
Good review hitt. Received this mod last week and was definitely a little surprised by the size, Also found the screen a little on the small side when scrolling through the settings but I’m kind of a set it and forget it kind of person so not really a problem.
It is a bit bulky. I’ve noticed on several mods that they make the wattage number bigger than it needs to be and the other information is small. You’d think they could adjust for that.
