After a very long wait the Zeus is finally here. For those who may not know, this pv has been in the works for a very long time. Shortly after I became a V4L customer did Smilin sir promise a 5v fixed battery. In 2011 at Vapercon got to see pics of it, and then last year when I went out to Chicago for the first time Smilin sir gave me one of the two only working prototypes (pic to follow of it). It would be another year before the final version would be put into construction. It's been a very long road for the Zeus, but hopefully for those who experience using one, it will be well worth it.

As of right now there is only one size available, there will be another in the near future and will delve into it once it has been released (Chinese New Year is the reason for the delays). The 900mah size comes in two separate varieties though. One version is strictly an auto, it's roughly 1/4" taller than the 900mah DAV auto. The other is the dual mode auto/manual which is roughly 1/4" taller than the 1100mah DAV. The only two colors available are black and cigar, and both feature the same soft touch coating from the vapor titan line. They both feature a sealed post just like that on the auto DAV's, and have proven to be some of the most leak resistant thus far in all my testing. The airflow is perfect again, being just like that of a king diamond/vapor titan manual. Cut off time on the 4 I have range from 8.8-11.2 seconds. Unlike the DAV's these feature charging port on the bottom so they can be used as a passthrough. With that let's get into some of the technical details.

Will first touch up on the pt aspect. Unlike any other pt with a battery before it, the Zeus runs at 5v (or maximum output which will get into in a moment). This means it gives the same experience as the pt V4L currently sells. There is one major plus to this, an added bonus, and one possible issue for some. Unlike a pt that uses the USB port/adapter that it's plugged into for power, it runs off the battery. This means you can safely run the Zeus from your computer's USB port without issue as long as they are 2.0 or above, it only pulls 500ma from the USB. This is also the preferred way to charge the Zeus being faster than with the slim line (500ma vs 120ma). No need to worry about overcharging either, it uses cc/cv to charge the battery and will stop charging it after the battery's actual voltage hits 4.19v. Have left it connected to the USB for 48 hours trying to overcharge it to no avail (still do not suggest anyone else trying this though). The only downside to this is that if you completely drain the battery you have to let it charge for 10-15 minutes before you can use it as a pt. Because it runs off the battery not the port it has to have some charge before you can vape with it.
As for voltage output, this a truly regulated device. This has been one of the easiest items I've ever tested period, which is the goal of the Zeus. It's meant to be a plug and play item so to speak, simply attach the carto and vape. No adjustments, no worries about what you're putting on there, just screw on your carto or tank and vape. It does have an amp limit, 3.2a on the 900mah size. So just like with the DAV's it will drop the voltage to match the amp limit. Will list the off/on load results for both the Auto only and Dual mode-

Auto Dual mode
Off load 5.10v 5.08v
1.5 DC 4.31v 4.32v
2.0 DC 4.41v 4.41v
2.5 DC 4.52v 4.53v
2.0 SC 5.04v 5.04v
2.5 SC 5.04v 5.05v
3.0 SC 5.04v 5.05v

Unlike any other pv I've tested for V4L won't be doing an hour by hour testing chart, reason being it's pointless with the Zeus. Whatever voltage it can maximally put out it does within .2v up until the final 10-20 puffs, where just like with the latest DAV autos it drops like a rock. In other words you'll be easily able to tell when it's time to charge because it's performance will be seriously crippled. Will give you the voltage output numbers from both after drop off though-

Auto Dual mode
1.5 DC 3.21v 3.22v
2.0 DC 3.24v 3.23v
2.5 DC 3.22v 3.23v
2.0 SC 3.24v 3.23v
2.5 SC 3.23v 3.21v
3.0 SC 3.24v 3.22v

What this all means is the Zeus provides a consistent vape throughout it's charge up until the very end. They match up perfectly with the current sized Smileos available, and being that with a 2.5ohm SC carto you're getting 10w of power it's right in the sweet spot for most vapors. Going back to the attach and vape approach of the Zeus it's exactly why Smilin sir focused in on 5v for the output. Majority of vv users asked set their pv's to 4.7-5.3v when using cartos, and vw users 9-11watts with cartos. 10w/5v was the perfect middle ground.

So after 2 years and change it's finally here. An all in one pv that is auto/manual/pt, truly has been worth all the blood, sweat, tears, time, and money put into it. It's V4L's first truly in house mod, though it should be considered more of a hybrid. Unlike other mods you can not change out the batteries in it. There again was reason behind that. For one means you don't have to carry around extra bare cells with you, nor worry about making sure you have the right charger or even a charger on you (just a USB cord), and most importantly getting cells that couldn't handle the output of the Zeus (getting an under rated cell is the most dangerous thing a vapor can do). The Zeus has been designed to be the simplest advanced pv V4L has ever sold.

Time for a small update. There's been some people who've reported issue with their Zeus firing when they place their finger on the bottom of it over the usb port. Can actually answer the reason why. Recieved one of the questionable units today and dissected it. Unlike the vapor titan and king diamond stick batts the Zeus uses a microphone for activation (and for those wondering the microphone is underneath a gasket that's under the battery, which itself is under another gasket, then goes the switch and main pcb, followed by another gasket so it's very well protected from juice leaks, even more so than I thought). Some microphones happen to be more sensitive than others, so this is why rubbing your finger across the end cap on some of the Zeus units cause it to fire while on others it doesn't. It's nothing to be worried about.

Also since I had already killed this Zeus in every way but rending it completely useless intentionally shorted out the battery (while still completely hooked up to the pcb's) to see what would happen (important disclaimer- THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NO ONE SHOULD ATTEMPT TO RECREATE THIS). All that took place is it blew the safety fuse on the main pcb, killing the Zeus, but that's it (which is exactly what it's supposed to do).

No it's not sir. Smilin sir's goal with the Zeus was to make an advanced pv that was plug and play. He wanted it to be a simple as possible to use, after asking multiple vapers and staff members he decided on 5 volts because a high majority of people with vv/vw devices set them to 9-11 watts or 4.7-5.3v. He decided to go for the middle ground and went 5v or 10w with the smileos (2.5ohms @ 5v = 10 watts).
