I've been vaping since 1/2/14, and I have a pretty severe peanut allergy. So far, so good, but yesterday at my local vape shop, my friend bought a flavor called Fat ......., which turned out to be peanuts and chocolate. I don't know why this never occurred to me, but since peanut allergy is a contact allergy, I wonder if I could have a reaction from ejuice. Anyone have any thoughts?

One of my good friends has a serious nut allergy and I've avoided buying juices that would set it off, because I don't even want to risk him coming over and there being a minuscule almond (for instance) coating on everything in my house. I've sent him to the hospital and stabbed him with adrenaline enough times, thank you very much.

Oh indeed, I stick to fruits mainly. But it seems impossible to know what flavorings were "made in a peanut free environment." I suppose I will have to do much research on this. And my friend took her juice home and far away from me, but it was the first "peanut" juice I had come across.

It's an interesting question. I would e-mail a few liquids vendors and put the peanut question to them. It's not like the places we buy from are manufacturing vaping liquids and peanut butter in the same lab so I doubt that would be a concern. But the question of exactly what is in those various nut flavorings - that would be interesting.

You could look at the various flavor manufacturers websites. I took a look at The Perfumers Apprentice and for their Peanut Butter flavor it says-
"Ingredients:Natural & Artificial Flavor, Propylene Glycol"

Natural flavor doesn't necessarily mean actual peanuts but if I had an allergy, there's no way I'd chance it. They do answer emails if you want to ask them.

Flavor West lists the same, Capella's says artificially flavored. There are others but I'd consider them the big 3.

Believe me when I tell you, I will not be trying any flavoring that I think even remotely may contain peanuts. That being said, I'm far more concerned with the idea of a stealth attack. And as for the allergy, it's linked to a particular protein, so not to go too far into detail, the refining process can remove the allergen protein. I sincerely like the idea of a scratch test with a sample. I may just do that.

allergens are handled extremely seriously by flavor manufacturers.
