Heylo friends,
Today is a good day. Why, you ask? I received my Black Manhattan Clone from VapeRoyalty. Let me tell you, this thing is amazing. What's the best part? It has all of the features of the real Manhattan, but for only $35.99. On top of that, if you just blow into the tube with the switch on, it vents. Hallelujah, Todd would be proud.
Below is a review of this incredible clone, enjoy.
Packaging
The Manhattan Clone from VapeRoyalty comes in a fully foam padded box designed to look very similar to the original. The only differences, instead of 'AV' at the top, it just says 'A,' the swirly vapor design is a little different, and it doesn't say 'Competition Use mod' on the bottom. It's 100% protected and I would feel comfortable if they just shipped it as is, without any other packaging. Of course, they didn't, it came with bubble wrap and a small USPS box.

The Clone
Two clones are offered on VapeRoyalty, the Black Manhattan and the Copper Manhattan. The copper was not yet in stock when I ordered, but the black was so I took the plunge. I am so happy I did, because it was sold out in about another 20 minutes.
Thick 100% billet aluminum? Check. Rare-Earth magnetic button? Check. Pure copper contacts? Check. Solid brass button? Check. Switch failsafe? Check. Does it pass the Todd test? Check.
I'm just in love with this thing. The magnets in the switch are so powerful, I can stick it to any metal surface, at any angle, and it will hang there with no fear, from me, of falling. It takes some serious force (I mean it's not hard, but it is, you know?) to press the button, just as it did in Todd's review of the original, so there is no threat of a false fire from setting the mod down or even having it in your pocket. It's a good thing too, because there is no way to lock it.
This is my first mod with pure copper contacts, and goodness do they work beautifully. This thing hits like a dream. The threads are buttery smooth, and it pieces together flawlessly. The overall machining is impeccable.
As you all probably know, the Manhattan is a very wide mod, coming in at almost an inch wide. So most rda's are not flush in width by any means, but I'm totally okay with that. With how well it performs, I'm perfectly content with function over form. It stands at 3.25" tall. It's not as small as my Caravela, but it's not as large as my Chi You. It's right in the middle for height.
Below, you can kind of compare the size to my TurtleShip V2 Clone lol I just like sticking this mod to metal surfaces.

My friend has a real Manhattan that I have used many times, and it is a fantastic piece of technology. It's allowed me to accurately review this clone as well. The only difference, his is a little more heavy because of the metal used for his (his is the stainless steel version, just verified).
Function
I have basically been chain-vaping with this mod for the past hour with my Plume Veil RDA built at 0.24Ω (dual coil (parallel), 24 gauge kanthal, 7 wraps on a 1.5mm bit). Let's put it this way, I drained a Sony VCT4 battery in just over an hour lol. It has shown no signs of heating up in the button, seams, or top cap. Of course the RDA was burning up, but the Manhattan Clone diffuses heat like none of my other mods do. I said it earlier, and I will say it again, I love this mod. It is truly amazing.
Overall
Pro's:
The Manhattan Clone from VapeRoyalty is as close to getting the real thing as getting the real thing is to getting the real thing lol. For $35.99, I believe it is the most worthwhile investment in my collection so far, at least for mods. It comes with everything the original has, a thick battery tube machined from one solid block of billet aluminum, an extremely powerful rare-earth magnetic switch, a built in failsafe for false fires, pure copper contacts, floating atomizer contact pin, and a solid brass firing button. On top of all of that, this clone vents with ease just by blowing into the battery tube with the switch attached. Not just a little bit, a lotta bit.
Con's:
The only problem I've found is that even with a flat top battery, the pin only has so far to travel and the only RDA that I can get close to sitting flush is my Plume Veil (Stillare had no hope
). It's not that big of a deal because it allows for better cooling of the RDA, but if your someone that absolutely has to have their mod and RDA completely flush, some modifications to your RDA will be necessary. Also, VapeRoyalty does not say who made this clone (obviously not a con for the clone itself). I feel they should be given credit for this beautiful clone.
Edit: After looking at the top cap a little more I figured out how the atomizer contact system works and got a much more flush fit on my Plume Veil. Still, RDA's with long 510 connections will have some issues.
If anyone wants a Manhattan, but simply cannot afford one, or has a grudge against AV as a company now, this is the clone to go with. I am sure the copper clone will be just as spectacular.
Thanks for taking the time to read this review. I hope this was well-written and convincing to all who are thinking about this clone. If anyone wants more photos, with some RDA's on there or something, please just ask as I would be glad to post some. Or if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.
