Using squonk rda with a regulated mod.

Hi guys.
I am thinking of changing the melo 3 tank on my pico with an rda. My device can go only 75W max. So I think it is better to run with a single coil. Or is it better with dual?
I found one with single coil and is also 22 mm, so it fits with my device.
Im thinking to purchase Dee mod solo rda. Is it compatible to use with my istick pico?

Hi and welcome,

The Pico is 510 threaded, so any 510 (every) atomizer will work so long as it fits on the pico. (22mm)
The solo should come with a regular 510 pin and a hollow BF 510 pin. Use the solid/regular pin with the pico.

Please confirm that you are using a high quality battery made by a big TV manufacture (LG, Sony, Samsung).
A 20amp cell should safely allow you to reach 60 watts.

you would need to replace the squonk pin with a regular one but it should still work. i have a limitless plus rdta becuase i drive and vape so the tank comes in handy i usually vape at around 70w with a dual coil build so dont limit yourself based on wattage if you want to run dual coils by all means do and then if you dont feel satisfied maybe its time for an upgrade ?

It will work fine, but the only problem I see, is juice seeping down through the squonk slot into your 510 connector. Just be sure not to over saturate it, or your 510 will be flooded with Ejuice. Electrically, it should work with any 510 connector, I'm just worried that the atomizer might be setup to funnel any excess juice down the sqonk 510 center pin. You could ask them if they come with a standard center pin instead.

Also, the only other reason I would be hesitant on the Dee mod solo RDA, is because the coil is directly under the mouthpiece. It will be prone to spitback. After looking at the video, I could imagine inhaling some spitback from the coils. Usually, for drippers, I prefer to use a dual coil design even if I run it in single coil, just so it offsets the coil from beneath the drip tip.

I have 6 RDA's in rotation all set up single coil with the coil in the center. 4 of the 6 are dual coil rda (2 x dead rabbit's, 1 x pulse 24, 1 x athena) that I build as single coils and I don't run the single coil to the side. My Pulse 22 and Dead Rabbit SQ also perform great for me. If the coil is wicked and powered properly (I use Rayon) spit back shouldn't be an issue.

The watt limit on your device dosen't necessarely have to limit your build, i used a .22 0hm build on my 75 watts max aspire nx and even at 75 watts i didn't really have any issues (besides the fact it was a bit underpowered for that low of resistance and the fact battery don't last long that way).

Just build higher 0hms (about .3 i'd say ?) and use whatever wattage you like most, i myself tend to use the bypass function on my squonker anyway so i fire at 4.2 volts no matter what's in it but mine's a dual 18650 so not quite the same.

I'd go single.

You can run dual but you could potentially be bottle necked due to the 75W.

IMO a single coil triple/double core clapton at 60W is better than a simpler dual coil build in the 60-75W range. Not only in quality of vape, but in battery life as well.

Infront of me right now I have a double 26/36 clapton coming up to ~0.45 ohms and a single 2x26/36 clapton coming up to ~0.45. Flavour, clouds, etc; single coil is much better.

Only time my double is better is if I build 0.15-0.2ohms. But at that point there's so much metal I need to be running it at ~5V which is far outside 75W.

My ideal is a single coil triple core clapton which comes in at around 0.3 - which is basically one of the coils from the 0.15-0.2 I mentioned above.

If it fits, it ought to work. However, a squonk topper will leak on a regular mod, if you don't replace the pin with a solid one. Welcome to the board.
