I hope I'm posting in the right forum. My second voopoo drag just stopped working at the vape break. The fire button is unresponsive. I've only had it less than two weeks.

My first Voopoo Drag would not even turn on after the first time I charged the batteries.

Is there anything I can do to get one of them to work? I can't believe I'd get two lemons in a row. Thank you for any feedback.

Wow. That sucks. Could you be more specific? Complete power failure? is it throwing error messages?
I'm not sure yet. I live in a nursing home and they won't allow smoking and vape products in residents rooms. So, I have to bring my reading glasses outside and try to see in the sunlight.

The next break is at 4pm.

So I don't think there are any error messages coming up. And I did get an initial working toke before the power button quit firing. That happened twice - the tank is ok, it worked on my old 30w istick. But on the Voopoo now it just isn't working. At 4 I'm going to double check the batteries but since they fire the first toke they have to be in right, yes?

Thank you so much.

I don't want to say this is user error but with two, it may be? Do you have a friendly vaper relative or friend who may be able to troubleshoot with you?

How did you charge the batteries in there--externally or internally? If you didn't charge them, that could be your issue (not trying to be condescending just ruling out possibilities I can think of.)

With that said, I hate Voopoo don't even get me started on them. I hate them so much I will never buy another Voopoo product even if it's the best mod on earth, etc. But, I am thinking perhaps a battery issue if you are new to external battery mods. Etc.

OK, I changed the coil (Nautilus mini tank) and at least now I'm getting harsh throat hits. Only just the tiniest puff of vapor is being produced though. But I'm very relieved right now. I need that throat hit!

I'm thinking it might be time to try the Cleito tank I bought. But it will have to be tomorrow if not Monday because I have to prime the coil for maybe 20 minutes.

My other Voopoo Drag wouldn't turn on at all after the staff tried to charge it without the batteries in (I was charging them in my room). So I've assumed that's user error.

I just can’t get over their name personally. How do you miss something like that? Also what is a “Voo”?

Thanks... Why do you hate Voopoo, if I may ask? The batteries are fully charged. Not to say the same thing couldn't have happened as with the first one. I hope not.

So, I noticed on the screen that although it showed 9 watts in wattage mode, the volts was 0 on the same screen. I'll try to take a picture of it at the next break. Could that be why no actual vapor is being produced, or is that normal for a wattage mode screen?

If the screen is lit it’s likely not a power problem. Occam’s razor says 510 connector issue.

Ok, thanks. I'm also wondering whether the coil is the problem. The old one was almost unscrewed when I took it out. That would still be a 510 connector issue, right?

Hello Puff2K, sorry you're having a spate of bad luck.

But yes, a badly installed coil can cause issues. As it doesn't make a good contact and the mod cannot read it correctly, as resistance will be all over the place.

Just make sure that the coil is firmly screwed in, not too tight though as you'll have to be able to remove it.

Also, could you tell us what tank and resistance coils you are using please?

Sort of. In this case yes, I think. In a lot of devices the cartridge literally IS the 510 connector. Perhaps 510 connector was overly specific. Let’s go with “the electrical connection between the mod and the heating element”

Thank you. Does that suggest anything I should do in order to produce vapor?

Hi, I'm using a Nautilus tank at the moment. Coils might be 1.8 if that makes sense. Thank you.

Yes.
Make sure all the bits that form the electrical connection are free of debris and connected.

The 510 connector connects the mod to the atty, the coil cartridge connects either connects the atty to the heating element (which in the case of coil cartridges is part of the coil cartridge) or, if the coil cartridge sticks out the bottom of the atty, the mod directly. If THAT doesn’t work, there are two options:
1.) the connection between the heating element and the coil cartridge itself is broken in which case you throw away the coil cartridge and use a new one that hopefully doesn’t have that problem.
2.) there is something up with the electricity getting to the 510 connector in the first place, which is a whole other can of worms.
