Trident clone issues

Hey all-

So i've got a 1.5 ohm nicely wrapped micro coil, (30g kanthal a1) on a Trident clone and I'm using sterilized cotton for the wick. For some reason, I'm getting really poor vapor. I've built many coils on Tridents before and have had some of the best vapes of my life on it. I'm not doing anything differently than I have in the past, but the performance is terrible (not much vapor production when I take a hit, flavor is so-so). I should note that I've had this particular clone for less than a week.

When I test fire without the cap on, it seems like it's producing a steady flow of vapor. I took out the wick and the coils are glowing evenly, brightly and from the center out.

I've been racking my brains all day trying to figure out what the issue could be and have wrapped multiple coils just incase with the same issues. I've tried this both on my Provari and my Private V2 mechanical. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey suferbill, when that happens to me I re-position the cotton and make sure air hole is hitting the coil. With out pictures it's hard to tell.

ill try and snap a shot..but yes the airhole is lined up with the coil.

From what you said, you have rebuilt it...New cotton.... New wire.....Fresh battery maybe?

Kinda stumped here too... Vapor is there, anything blocking the air hole?

yeah im stumped too ive tried it on my provari using and 18490 and on my mechanical with an 18650 mnke that ive had for less than a month. i really cant figure this out.

It seems your coils are too far back from the air holes. They should be right at the edge of the deck as close to the air holes and centered as you can get them.

If you go out to the edge just be aware that the bottom of the air control cap can touch the coil.

this might be...not your problem but my trident came with the pre punched holes basically not punched. There were still fragments / shards of metal where the holes are blocking airflow. I would go in with a toothpick or something and make sure that nothing is still trapped in the circles of the airholes.

what drip tip do you have you? the positive posts can block the drip tip thus preventing vapor intake
