Tight spring screw?

I have almost stripped the spring screw trying to get it out with a precision screwdriver; any tips or tricks from all you handy folks before this thing is in there for good?

Try putting the edge of a screwdriver against the base of the spring and the bottom of the Reo. Push it towards the back of the Reo. Often this will loosen things up. Laying the Reo on its back helps. You might have to tap the end of the screwdriver lightly to get the spring to start turning. Then use the screwdriver in the traditional manner. Good luck.

No experience removing this screw, but i find precision screwdrivers are really made for tiny things, where torque force is not needed. Plus they are often cheapo things and will strip screws very fast.
For most screw sizes you have bigger screwdrivers which will work wayyy better, and are also better built so you have less chance of stripping the screw.

I'd recommend going to a hardware store with your reo and trying screwdrivers there directly, or asking the guys there.
Also if you still can't remove the screw with a bigger screwdriver you might want to try some WD40.

Also note that I totally suck at this sort of things so you may very well know better lol

Good advice cracoucax. You need a #1 Philips screwdriver, or #1 Philips screwdriver bit to go into your larger screwdriver, to fit the head of the screw properly. Once its stripped a bit, even using the correct #1 bit may not get you out of trouble. ltrainer's tip of trying to get the spring base to loosen a bit first is very good. If it all gets pear-shaped and the screw is really stuck in there, send it to Rob, he will fix it for a nominal fee.

This has worked for me, spinning the spring plate counter clockwise a bit loosen it enough to get the screw out.

If none of the above works slip your flat ended screw driver under the edge of the spring plate pull the spring up a whisker enough so you can get a pair of small pliers or a pair of wire cutters on the spring plate twist and rip it out . I no it sounds evil but it works

Awesome! Moving the spring back and forth loosened it enough that I got it!
